Paul "El" Chappell is the pastor and top dog of the Lancaster Baptist Church (LBC) and the West Coast Baptist College (WCBC) in Lancaster, CA. El Chapell (as he will be called from hereon, "El Chappell" to parallel the cartel leader and ruthless villian El Chapo, "El" as in "the") of the West Coast Cartel has been a massive influencer of Independent Baptist policy and procedure over the last two decades, especially through his spiritual leadership conferences, helping turn many churches away from the Biblical faith of our forefathers unto a contemporary, adulterous, heretical form of neo-Evangelicalism garbed in "Baptist" and conservative attire. Seems like the poisonous tentacles of gringos like El Chappell are far reaching, one of the biggest influencers among Independent fundamental Baptists (IFB); so far in fact that the underground church in a Middle Eastern Islamic natiion we ministered in was even effected. Men like El Chappell inadvertently and unwittingly bring out the heretics among those who are professing fundamentalists. We strongly believe Paul "El" Chappell would qualify as an honourary member of another Cartel, the Ancient Order of Judas Iscariot (the Quintessential Counterfeit).

The Bible repeatedly warns us of false teachers like El Chappell, and how they function:

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.” (2 Pet 2:1-2)

Well thats a bit harsh you might dare to think. Its not when you look at the facts before us. No man in recent history, we believe, has done so much damage to the Lords churches as Paul "El" Chappell, the cartel leader of a revivalist/neo-evangelical brand of independent baptists that claim the King James Bible but don't actually do (or believe) what the KJV says. The tentacles of El Chappells Cartel are everywhere, including his 127 Ministry. LBC and WCBC is a pot-pourri mixture of cultic, movement and fundigelicals, with large variety of voices, doctrines and beliefs, even concerning the gospel, with staff from take your pick of bible schools, including staff being Hylesites and Pensacola grads (incl. Chappell), which is more Fundigelical.

If El Chappell and his Cartel of LBC/ WCBC/ 127 Ministry/ Spiritual Leadership/ Striving Together/Etc., stood privately minding his (and their) own business, not pushing their errors and heresies on a world wide population and influencing thousands of churches, then we probably wouldn't be writing this report warning on the man a nd his ministry (or many other reports for that matter). Many, many churches across North America are preaching errors and something less than a true gospel, and El Chappell with his LBC / WCBC Cartel is a big cause of it, him being one of the most influential men and churches in America, with thousands of students attending WCBC and hundreds of pastors imitating the Lancaster way of doing things. Therefore we will warn in obedience to God's Word, just like the Apostle Paul or the Lord Jesus Christ would:

"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple." (Rom 16:17-18)

1. El Chappell’s False Gospel Exposes Him as a Heretic and False Teacher (Gal. 1:6-9; 2:4-5).

The gospel should always be addressed first, whether in truth, or whether being exposed, though we don't always do that. We'll do it here. El Chappell, the late Clarence Sexton and majority of revivalists type of IFB churches preach the same unscriptural and perverted no-repentance, no-Lordship anemic feel-good and unoffensive gospel of easy-believism and quick-prayerism, the run of the mill perverted gospel (Gal 1:6-9; 2 Cor 11:4). That is one reason, a primary one, how they get thousands of loyal followers and build big empires. And the dumber they stay, the easier they are to control. Its a trick out of the orwellian leftist/marxist guide on controlling the "sheeple."

There is so much wrong with the El Chappell doctrine and philosophy, it would take an entire book to point out the error. It's not only his false doctrine, but the methodology that is manipulative. There are so many problems, and he is spreading this all over the country and the world, among people who strive to be a "success."

(a) Chappell's corrupted quick prayerism and easy believism “gospel” (repentant-less and Lordship-less “gospel”) is the "gospel" that he preaches regularly.

By denying true repentance through avoiding, undermining, excluding, and teaching false versions of it, when he preaches on it or on the gospel the rare moment, with the same concerning Christ's Lordship, he rejects the true and pure gospel of Christ.

We know that repentance is a critical element of the gospel (Mk 1:1-5; Ac 20:21, 24), so any twisting, wresting or corrupting of repentance is a perversion of the gospel (Gal 1:6-9). Repentance is a Major Element of the Gospel and Must Always Be Preached, Including Its Description.

>> The false gospel presentation on their website, titled "Relationship with God," with a video entitled "Redemption," is the non-offensive, anemic, watered-down and corrupted gospel that has built Chappell's empire, and why vast majority of people in such IFB churches are unregenerate fakes, i.e., hypocrites. On this page, their section on "Believe and Receive Christ" is predictably absent of anything even remotely associated with repentance or Christ's Lordship. The perverted, feel-good false "gospel" of easy-believism void of any repentance or Christ's Lordship, which is "another gospel" (2 Cor 11:4), is noted in this presentation, where we read:

"In order to have a relationship with God and an eternal home in Heaven, we must stop trusting ourselves, our works, and our religions, and place our full trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of our sin and eternal life. In Romans 10:13 the Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” That is a promise directly from God that if you will pray to Him, confess that you are a sinner, ask Him to forgiveyour sins, and turn to Him alone to be your Saviour; He promises to save you and give you the free gift of eternal life."

Followed by a quick prayersim "decisionism"--

"You can make that decision today by praying from your heart, something like this: Dear God, I know that I am separated from you because of sin. I confess that in my sin, I cannot save myself. Right now, I turn to you alone to be my Saviour. I ask you to save me from the penalty of my sin, and I trust you to provide eternal life to me.—Amen
You'll never regret that decision! If you have just trusted Christ, we would love to know about your decision and give you a Bible and some other materials to help you learn more about that new relationship! Give us a call at 661.946.4663 and let us know today!"

Below this they have placed a green tab that you can click, labelled: "I accepted Christ." Clicking it gets you to an information page to fill out so they can send you "some free resources to help you grow in your new walk," with the report entitled "Congratulations on your decision to follow Christ!"

This is the snake-oil of a snake-oil salesman. Its a twisting of the truth of the gospel, in how a sinner is saved. Its dumbified the truth where it requires no conviction, no Spirit-reproof, no self-denial, no death to self, no surrender, no repentance, no actual turning from sin/self/stuff/people, but still get the prize, the free get out of jail card, the fire insurance, while the marriage to the world continues, servitude to the master of mammon moves forward, hatred for sin and the world and other things doesn't change, discernment and judgment is as skewed and hated as before, the old things continue while the new things are nowhere to be found, etc. This is a benchmark presentation of how you can make a false profession and become a two-fold child of hell.

One of the biggest issues with El Chappel's corruption of repentance and Lordship in salvation is his effort to actually eliminate repentance and Lordship in the presentation of the Gospel (by either redefining "repentance," or by erecting strawman arguments to attack those who hold the historical and Biblical understanding of it), which comes from a philosophical mindset that seeks to make the offence of the cross to cease.

Compounding that problem is his promotion of the modern redefinition of faith as being nothing more than an intellectual assent, which is refuted in many places in Scripture. For example, Pr 3:5 gives a short, clear description of faith as not leaning unto thine own understanding and acknowledging Him in all our ways, or in Lk 17, where we actually have a direct defintion to what it means to have faith; when the apostles asked the Lord, "Increase our faith" (v. 5), the Lord defined faith as obedience (vv. 6-10), obedience that obeys every word and not expect praise in return, for it is the duty of the servant of Christ, "So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do." (v. 10). The stumbling block for men like Chappell (and most of the rest of the Chappell Cartel or Sword of the Lord Cartel) is that such descriptions imply submission, which is glaringly absent in a large percentage of their achieved professions. Οne of the two most glorious passages on God's grace in Titus (2:12) makes it clear that the same grace of God that saves (2:11) also educates/ raises/ disciplines us in order that we become sanctified in our lives. 2 Peter makes it clear that mark of the unregenerate false teachers is their denial or disavowing of the Lordship (Peter uses δεσπότης despotes which means an absolute ruler there, not κύριος kurios which means supreme in authority) of Jesus Christ. How can one become sanctified without Biblical repentance, and how can one repent without submitting to the Lordship of Jesus Christ?

“Easy-believism” is closely connected to “non-Lordship.” Most sinners have no issue with Jesus dying for them, they won't reject that, but they however have a very difficult time with Jesus as Lord, because that involves the will, which involves turning from their sin and self and their stuff and their idols and people. Believing is a lot more than just intellectual assent to a group of facts. This is where repentance and “Lordship salvation” dovetail. Those who know what it means to turn to Jesus Christ, don’t find that easy to do, just like Jesus answered to the question, "Lord, are there few that be saved?", stating "Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able." (Lk 13:23-24). There is nothing "easy" about having to "Strive to enter in at the strait gate:", and with the quantitative outcome ("any, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able"), we know there is great difficulty, not because of God but because of man and his pride and love for sin and control, and refusal to repent and submit to Christ. They’d rather hang on to their life for themselves. But Jesus said, “whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” (Matt 16:25; Mk 8:35; Lk 9:24).

By their denial and perversion of the gospel they clearly reveal that not only are they unregenerate but worst, they are false teachers who willfully purvey a false gospel. John the Apostle warns:

"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." (2 Jn 1:9-11)

Many who claim to preach Biblical repentance justify a continued partnership or relationship with those who have done away with Biblical repentance in the way described above. Their defence goes something like, 'it's not a false gospel, it's just not a full presentation of it,' and that is then followed by a glib out-of-context quote of the Gospel being only what is described in 1 Cor. 15 (See? No repentance. Repentance is not included in the Gospel!). The NT writer Luke and Mark would disagree with that. Mark opens with "The beginning of the gospel of Jexsus Christ..." and then launches straight into repentance preached by John the Baptist. John's preaching and baptism were not just OT or Inter-Testamental; they were the same true gospel that was preached throughout the NT, and has ever been preached (Salvation Has Never Changed — Justification Has Always Been through Repentant Faith, by God's Grace). Most of the "criminals" such as the Chappell's or the "enablers" are not bothered by reports such as this, nor with what Scripture teaches (which they don't actually study, only eisegetically cherry pick the bit of scripture that fits their agenda and pogrom) since most have shaken off the burdensome shackles of Scriptural context when dealing with their proof texts.

They force Scripture to agree with them, which is the evil method of interpretation called eisegesis, the MO of false teachers.

Part of the problem is not recognizing that Paul did not tolerate compromise on the gospel even for an hour, and even when Peter was the one doing it (cf. Gal 2:11-14). That would be the end of assoication with the El Chappell West Coast Cartel or Sword of the Lord churches and their false gospel.

His sermons, gospel message on the church website, written material, material and people he promotes (e.g., "Done" by Cary Schmidt), statement of faith, etc, all reflect the same watered-down, anemic easy-believism, quick-prayerism, Lord-less, repentant-less false "gospel."

>> Consider the statement of faith for the church he pastors, LBC, the section on "Sin and Salvation" --

"We believe all men were born with an inherited sin nature received from our common ancestor, Adam. We believe that because of his nature, man is a sinner by choice, and he is totally incapable of reforming himself or ceasing from his sin by his own power. We believe the only hope of deliverance for man is a total change of mind concerning his sinful condition and inability to change it, and a turning to Jesus Christ as the only Saviour. We believe that only through the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ on the cross can a man be delivered from his sin. We believe that all those who reject Jesus Christ as their Saviour are already condemned to an eternity in the lake of fire. (Genesis 5:1-5; Acts 4:19; Acts 16:31; Romans 3:10-23; Romans 5:6-12; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6; Revelation 20:11-14)"

Though it is good that their doctrinal statement is even posted online (many don't, and try to hide it), the statement itself is bad, and this isn't the only bad thing in there. Perhaps when you read that, you think it is a pretty good statement. It's not, especially when you know what they believe, preach, and practice.

The third sentence is a reflection of the corrupt gospel that we are addressing here:

"We believe the only hope of deliverance for man is a total change of mind concerning his sinful condition and inability to change it, and a turning to Jesus Christ as the only Saviour."

This sentence, and the entire statement never actually uses the necessary word, either "repent" or "repentance," nor its principles, like the Bible does and requires. Chappell has obviously purposefully left out repentance and its principles. What is stated here is not repentance, but a false rendition of true repentance, which is much more than just a "change of mind." The "change of mind" "repentance" is the "repentance" of ungodly men, of wolves in sheep's clothing who are purveyors of a false gospel, and proselytizers of two-fold children of hell. But doesn't the statement say, "change of mind," and isn't that the meaning of repentance? "Change of mind" is definitely not what repentance means. You don't know what a word means by its etymology, but how it is used contextually. Repentance is a lot more than merely intellectual. All three faculties of man encompass repentance: intellectual, volitional and emotional. The LBC statement won't even use the word repent or repentance or its principles in a statement on salvation, and then uses "change of mind" instead for obvious reasons. As insufficient as "change of mind" is and how it perverts the gospel, it is even worse in the LBC statement, because it is only a "change of mind concerning his sinful condition and inability to change it." The idea expressed is that man's only hope of deliverance is for him to change his mind about his sinful condition and his inability to change it. In other words, merely "change his mind" from 'I'm not a sinner,' to 'I am a sinner' and there you have it: "repentance" and the gospel according to LBC. Almost no one denies being a sinner and having a sinful condition, after "changing their mind" about their alleged "goodness," but very very low numbers will actually willfully turn from their sin in godly sorrow and contrition, and even less than that would actually wilfully surrender in submission to the Lord. But El Chappell and LBC would obviously leave those critical elements of the gospel out for good reason, for it does not build big churches, schools and empires. It does not exalt your name, glory and fame. It will not fill your pews but do the very opposite.

Nothing in the statement speaks of Biblical repentance. Jesus does not save a person who does not truly repent, and doesn't even have to believe in Jesus Christ. Strangely, nothing in that statement even speaks about believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and His gospel, which is the only means whereby a sinner is converted (Rom 1:16-17; 10:9-10; Jn 3:3-36), though we are pretty sure that they believe that faith is required for salvation, at least their version or understanding of what faith is and who Jesus is. Like "repent," they leave out the word "believe." But why would they leave out, "believe in Jesus Christ"?What kind of salvation are they offering if it is void of repentance and believing/faith? Faith or believing is not "only hope of deliverance" or "a man can be delivered." "Hope" and "can be" are not how salvation reads in scripture. When El Chappell and LBC (or any other group for that matter) minimizes salvation, deceptively reducing it based on conformity to church-growth methodology, it ends up with something that isn't salvation at all. The end result is false professions, false security, false assurance, doubt, and hypocrisy. And El Chappell and LBC are the cause of this but it doesn't seem to really matter to them. They are able to build the big church, the big school, the big empire using a religious method that fills the pews and keeps the people coming and forking over filthy lucre, and thats all that really matters. The state of souls and their eternal abode is obviously not a concern. You wouldn't want some statement, sermon, gospel message, or article to get in the way of any of this, so you minimize the gospel to something non-offensive, easy to believe, quick to pray about, easy to quantitively enlarge, even though its less than and very different than what God's Word teaches. "Let them be accursed." (Gal 1:8-9).

The word quoted here out of Gal 1:8-9, “accursed,” is the same word as “anathema,” which means devoted to God for destruction. That is strong language, even harsh, but it’s the truth. In a post-modern age of “tolerance,” some may find this disturbing. But it’s the truth, so you best come to terms with it. But what is worse: saying you are “accursed” (or “anathema”), or the one perverting the gospel?

The statement actually reveals that El Chappel and LBC reject the doctrine of repentance, which explains the reason why they do not preach it, ever, nor Christ's Lordship. Nothing about Jesus as Lord. Not the title, nor the principles, though it have easily fit into the some of the statements made (e.g., "turning to Jesus Christ as the only Saviour"). The idea of "turning" hardly has anything to do with Jesus as Saviour; it has to do with Jesus being "Lord," but that is left out, purposefully. There's a massive hole in their gospel, which corrupts the truth and perverts the gospel, so we could say, "let them be accursed." (Gal 1:6-9). The phrase made in the statement, "total change of mind concerning his sinful condition and inability to change it, and a turning to Jesus Christ as the only Saviour" indicates that the person must change his mind about his inability to change his sinful condition — note "his condition," not his sinful or rebellious or ungodly activity or way, not his actual commission of sins and wickedness. This is downgrading the severity of sin and wicked behaviour, the thing that seperates the sinner from God, and not just one's sinful condition, which we are born with inherited from Adam (Rom 5). This also relates to the last part of the sentence, "a turning to Jesus Christ as the only Savior," which is standard lingual in revivalist salvation statements, simply another way of saying, 'turning from unbelief to belief.' LBC uses the word "turn" as an impression of repentance, but its not repentance; its a very narrow, specific turning from unbelief to belief, which is not the meaning of repentance. This is a person who thought he could change his condition on his own from a sinner to a saint, but realized only Jesus could change that condition, so he started thinking that and thus changed his views from unbelief (that is, he could change himself), to belief (that only Jesus could change him). As much as that might appear right, its not when it comes to repentance and conversion (though of course Christ does change the truly repentant converted sinner, but only him or her that is genuinely born again), because its not repentance, and its also not biblical faith. This statement isn't representing biblical doctrine. This person is not doing what Scripture says when it calls sinners to repentance and faith. There is A LOT more to repentance than simply changing your mind about your condition and your inability to change his condition, and then turning to Jesus Christ simply as Saviour. They have reduced the response to Jesus to the merely intellectual. Though they do not use "repent," they dumb down repentance to something less than biblical.

From reading the LBC statement, someone would not know it was necessary to repent in order to be saved. This distorts the gospel enough to clearly call the statement a false gospel. The Lords gospel preaching, the apostles gospel preaching, and the apostle Paul’s gospel preaching were all based around true repentance and then fruit thereof. In Acts 26 for instance, Paul said everywhere he went to preach, he preached:

that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.” (Ac 26:20)

When Jesus preached His gospel, he preached repentance:

“From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matt 4:17)

When He sent out the apostles to preach, they knew that gospel preaching was preaching repentance:

And they went out, and preached that men should repent.” (Mk 6:12).

Later, after His resurrection, Jesus told His disciples what to preach, which comprises all ambassadors of Christ of every age including that should follow thereafter, providing the only account of the message of salvation in the Great Commission, He said in Lk 24:47,

"And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

When the Lord dramatically saved me and converted me in 2005, it was repentance that was the missing element and the eventual catalyst to my surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ by faith in His gospel, and without genuine repentance and the accompanying fear of the Lord I would’ve never even seen my true need and desperate condition before God. Repentance is the very foundation of salvation, which is induced by fear of the Lord and God's goodness. True repentance works the three faculties of man: the volition, the intellect and the emotions, to create godly sorrow and surrender and turning from oneself and sin, it is what Christ told the unsaved multitudes that were following Him looking for some miracle or food, "So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple." (Lk 14:33). He cannot be saved, is what Jesus is saying. These are unsaved people He is preaching to (Lk 14:25; 15:1), and the call to discipleship is always a call to salvation. Any preacher that neglects or undermines this subject is not preaching the true and pure gospel of Christ. He is ripping his listners off of the truth. Then to top it all off, giving alter calls with the anemic gospel is a receipe for disaster. It is attempting to pick green, unripened fruit, which is no fruit all all, from “trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;” (Ju 1:12).

Though churches like LBC are big and appear spiritually alive, healthy and prosperous, that just doesn’t really seem to be the case at all when you get to see what their actual fruit is, the softening of the gospel, the compromise, the deception, the true nature of these institutions that are driven by numbers, control and flithy lucre. The actual machinery is "whited sepulchres . . . but are within full of dead mans bones" (Matt 23:27), "outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity" (Matt 23:29), they have "clean[ed] the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess." (Matt 23:26). Way to many within these churches are unregenerate, the products of easy believism or quick prayerism and in most cases both, thanks to false teachers like El Chappell. True repentance with Godly sorrow and surrender to Jesus as Lord are absent from testimonies, and we know the absolute critical nature of these elements for salvation. They are primary reasons why sinners remain unsaved, most of which have made some kind of superficial profession at some young ghastly age, which they can't even remember, and came with no fruit or evidence, and then years of "carnal Christianity."

God's terms of salvation include deny self, follow Him, give up your life, die to self, surrender to and confess Jesus as Lord (Matt 10:32-39; 16:24-26. All of those are the same thing essentially, products and descriptions of repentance and faith. This is how the gospel is described in the Word of God, all are salvation phrases in the Bible. You can't remain in rebellion against God and be saved, which is the "gospel" of El Chappel and the West Coast Cartel. In their world you get to keep your life for yourself, be sovereign of your own life, and still be saved, which is why they reject Biblical repentance and Christ's Lordship, which is why they needed to create a third category that doesn't exist, to make up for the lack of fruit and salvation evidence (No, there are ONLY two categories). And No. Jesus is King, that's the idea of Christ. You acquiesce to Him as Messiah, so He is on the throne and you are not, what we see with the Ninevites, including the king (Jon 3).

El Chappell, LBC, and the West Coast Cartel take these critical elements of the gospel out of the explanation, and this changes the gospel. None of this is hard to understand. You've got to turn from you way to Jesus Christ. You don't keep going your way and to Jesus Christ too. Those are mutually exclusive. You can't serve two masters (Matt 6:24). You always either serve one or the other, never both. You can't believe in you and in Jesus. Believing in Jesus is believing in Him, and He is the Christ, the Messiah, the King, the Lord. If you don't believe in Him, the actual biblical Jesus, you are not saved. You can't believe in Jesus, and continue serving yourself, follow after the lusts of your flesh, befriend the world, and be saved. Jesus said, follow me, the most. Second most, lose your life. Both are calls to salvation. If you keep your life for yourself, you will lose it, if you lose your life, you will save it (Matt 10; 16; Mk 8; Lk 9; Jn 12). Salvation brings cleansing, washing, purifying, sanctifying and justifying (1 Cor 6:11; Eph 1; Col 1). For God to cleanse your soul, you have to give it to Him. He will restore your soul but that requires your entire life. Self is enough. That's what "life" means. It's not a matter of denying yourself enough to be saved. You can't however keep going your way. It's not self effort, because salvation is supernatural. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The Word of God is powerful in bringing reproof, conviction, judgment, drawing, desperation, and conversion, for it is sharper than any two edged sword (Heb 4:12). This is conversion. These churches want a salvation that leaves Christ and Lord out. That isn't salvation. John ended his gospel by saying that what he wrote was that you would believe that Jesus was the Christ. The Christ. You have to believe that. If He is the Christ, you are not going to go your way anymore, but His way. And that requires true, genuine repentance, and submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Is this a work? Absolutely not. This is how Christ described the gospel and how to be saved, and He certainly wasn't describing a false works gospel. There are tensions in the Bible. Isa 55:6-7 says "seek the Lord while He may be found." Isn't that a work? Jesus, "except you repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Lk 13:1-5). Isn't that a work? Jesus said in Matt 7 that few find the narrow gate that leads to life eternal. Few there be that find it. You have to find it. Is that a work? How about what Jesus said in Lk 13 when asked whether "few that be saved?" He said, "Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able." (Lk 13:23-24). Isn't striving a work? How about seeking to enter that strait or narrow gate? "Salvation is of the Lord" (Jon 2:9; Jer 3:23). These aren't a work. Why? God says it isn't. He requires it in the fulfillment of the gospel. Its all by the grace of God, repentance is granted by God (Rom 2:4), and yet you have to do something. Phil 2 gives the answer that it is God that worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. He enables it by drawing all men to Himself, by convicting and reproving all men of their sin and of judgment and of righteousness (Jn 16:7-11; Pr 1:20-25; Jn 12:32). Repentance isn't a work any more than faith isn't a work. Ac 11:18, "When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life." Granted repentance and He grants it to all (Rom 2:4), for He brings conviction and reproof, does the drawing, grants repentance and does the saving when sinners respond to the call of salvation.

Like majority of revivalist-type of churches, including Sword of the Lord types and Hyles-churches, the Chappell-types and LBC-types are very slick, clever, and deceptive in the way they define repentance in their doctrinal statements, as if they actually believe in Biblical repentance, when in reality they do not. The careful student of scripture can normally see right through this deception, which is why it is extemely troubling and condemnatory for those who remain in these environments, essentially "the congregation of the dead." (Pr 21:16). These sort of churches would say that an issue really not should not be made out of this, and that differences of opinion on the matter of repentance and Lordship are not grounds for separation. Of course they do, because they are compromisers, have no conviction over the truth or concern over the purity of the gospel or even genuinely over the souls of man. Further, they don't even consider these critical elements of the gospel to be components of the gospel, thus perverting and wresting the truth even further. (Of course repentance and Christ's Lordship are elements of the gospel! E.g., Mk 1:1-5; Ac 20:21, 24). If they themselves are dead man walking, how could they be concerned over other dead man walking? Power of the gospel comes with those that are genuinely converted and born again, not from those who appear very close to the truth, and very pious, but actually deny the truth and are without the indwelling Spirit of God.

>> Done by Cary Schmidt. El Chappell was once the master of Cary Schmidt (a neo-evangelical, emergent church heretic--issues covered under point no. 5), the author of the little, short booklet, Done, which many churches hand to the lost in evangelistic packets and to new "converts," by the thousands, and available on Chappell's websites. Chappell has clearly no issue with this book, and sells it on his websites, and gives them away through his ministries. Schmidt makes the case that there are only two actual religions, one is "do" and the other is "done." Though this "done" versus "do" aphorism has a lot of truth to it and can be helpful for someone who thinks salvation is by works (Jesus' words on the cross, "It is finished” ["tetelestai”], are perfect passive, the work of salvation done by Christ on the cross; they are not the aorist tense, which is a completed action, with the perfect, the work is done, but the results are ongoing. Jesus works, but His work doesn’t stop working), it can also be false though, and dangerous. This is the case with Schmidt and "Done." He is wrong mainly in his watered-down, superficial, play-dough definition of "done," and then everything that is missing. The ambiguity provides for doctrinal perversion.

Though there are good truths taught in this book, it will ultimately produce false "converts" since Schmidt denies the true gospel by rejecting the doctrine of repentance, which is the very foundation of salvation and entrance requirement into the kingdom of God, and corrupting fruit and evidence of salvation (the expected outcome of the entrance requirements). These two connected doctrines are wholly absent from the book, and the word "repent" is mentioned only once towards the end, with no explanation, no principles, no call to real and true repentance. He also rejects Christ's Lordship. A false gospel can be given in two ways, either by adding to the true gospel or by taking away from the true gospel. In the case of Done, it is the latter. The gospel preached must always be personally convicting, reproving, sharper than a two edged sword, as we see in Scripture. A man must know what his sin is, his sins must be pointed out, and not merely a general statement that "all have sinned," for the Bible repeatedly details mans sin (e.g., 1 Cor 6:9-10; Matt 23:3-33; 19:18-19; Rev 20:8) and gives many examples, which this book only leaves as a generality. It is not enough to merely accept Christ but one must "repent ye and believe the gospel." (The whole "accept Jesus as your Saviour" is an anemic and mostly corrupted gospel that excludes repentance and Christ's Lordship, two critical elements of the gospel. One must forsake all to become Christ's disciple. The big problem with the book, as it is so very often today, is not necessarily the things that it says (though there are issues with that as well), but that it leaves out very essential gospel truths, which without you will not be genuinely saved. In fact, they are the most critical elements of the gospel, which is why Christ gospel preaching was foundationally based upon repentance (Matt 4:17), as the apostles (Mk 6:12), and the command to all born again believers (Lk 24:47-48).

Done contains ZERO teaching on the evidence of salvation, no tool for examining and testing against God's Word whether a professor is indeed genuinely saved. Of course heretics like Schmidt would never put something so offensive or critical into his "gospel" material, just like Chappell wouldn't, the man who taught or mentored him in the non-offensive, watered-down, anemic "gospel" of false professions. The last thing they would have is someone being convicted that they are unsaved, in spite of this being a major theme throughout Scripture, entire books written for this purpose (e.g. James, 1 John). This book presents the false gospel that is prevalent throughout our society: pray a prayer and you have "believed and received" Christ. As long as you have "sincerely" meant this prayer, you are "born again" and you have eternal security of your "salvation." This is not what Christ, the apostles, or anyone in Scripture preached. Schmidt also doesn't understand the difference between saved and unsaved, an issue very prevalent amongst the IFB, including El Chappell and LBC. In "Done" Schmidt asks the question, "So why do so many people hesitate to receive a gift from their heavenly Father?" "From their heavenly Father"? The Bible clearly teaches that God is not the Father of unbelievers, so all who have not been born again are not His adopted children, thus He is not their Father (cf. Jn 1:12; Rom 8:14-16; 2 Jn 1:9 etc.) Not even once in the entire book is genuine fruit and evidence of salvation in the life of a true believer ever addressed, which alone makes the book corrupted, the gospel false.

Chappell continues supporting Schmidt. The perversions of the gospel in the book never stopped him from supporting and promoting, and that tells us that he is in obvious agreement (Am 3:3).

(b) El Chappell eulogizes a murderer and claims he is in heaven after commiting murder and suicide (committing double murder).

The eulogizing of a murderer by El Chappell makes a person utterly nauseous and outrageous. In 2014, Jeremy Whitman, a former pastor and teacher at Chappell's LBC, who had attended LBC 20 years, decided to hunt down Erik Ungerman, also a member at LBC and former sunday school student of Whitmans, and shoot him in cold blood and then pull the trigger on himself. He found him at a stoplight, pulled alongside him, and fired multiple rounds into his car. Then he went and killed himself. The motive, according to police, was “some dispute.” Dispute over what . . . love gone wrong, adulterous affair, drugs or money? Chappell said he was "feeling ill" for a year already. After the double-murder, he enthusiastically eulogized this murderer and former pastor, writing a love letter of remembrance (so positive, makes you nauseous), paying for his funeral expenses, and establishing a memorial education fund for his children, and what was done for the victim, also a LBC member (but no "great" big-boy "pastor", only one of the lowly pew warmers), wait for it . . . not a single word spoken about the victim, not a single penny for him, and definitely no love letter.

Instead of admitting the evil of Whitman's action, both Chappell and the mayor of Lancaster, Rex Parris, went about excusing the evil act to his prescription drugs use from suffering back problems, which led to chasing down Ungerman and murdering him in cold blood. The mayor would have undoubedtly done this at the behest of Chappell, who exerts significant influence in Lancaster, CA. Does everybody that use prescription pain killers hunt down people they dislike and shoot them dead? Is it an adverse reaction? Or even those maybe involved in some love triangle, do they kill their adulterous partners or opponents? Instead of admitting the truth of who this evil beast was, an unregenerate heretic, and that he (Chappell) couldn't tell the difference concerning his nature, or what actually brought about this evil event and instead hid it from the public, which exposes the serious unregenerate problems at LBC, he decided to hide the truth and excuse the murderer's actions. Once again we see the true nature of Chappell, this time a reflection of real evilness and wicked hypocrisy, one that doesn't understand the first thing about who God truly is. The true and living God of Scripture cares more about justice than anything (see Pr 21:3, "To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice." see also Pr 1:3; Is 56:1). It is the greatest and chiefest of God's characteristics: "Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face." (Ps 89:14). It was a major characteristic of Abraham's obedience (Gen 18:19)who was called a friend of Godas it is to be for all who are genuinely born again (Pr 21:3). But its absent in El Chappel, and not only in this said area.

Whitman was an unsaved man but El Chappell wouldn't know the better. A person that murders themself, was unsaved. They were never saved, regardless of the profession they made. Chappell hangs on to his counterfeit profession of easy believism and quick prayerism, a perverted gospel being propagated exactly by men like Chappell, claiming,

"Because Jeremy had received Christ as his personal Saviour, I believe we will see Jeremy in Heaven. God promises that when we trust in Him for salvation, He saves us and keeps our salvation by His power." (source)

Chappell demonstrates he doesn’t understand the true gospel/salvation of Jesus Christ and in fact is rejecting the Word of God. 1 Jn. 3:15 for instance, which reads,

"Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him."

Since El Chappell completely denies Biblical justice having really no issue with the murderer, heaping praise on him, eulogizing him, starting monetary funds for his wife and children, he is an accomplice to the crime by one of his Cartel leaders. He not only doesn't disapprove of the man's actions, he whitewashes the murderer and helps his family (an act entirely contrary to Scripture, as we see with Judas's family in Psalm 109), so he becomes guilty by association and an accomplice. In this way he is becoming even more like El Chapo. According to criminal law, an accomplice is a person who actively participates in the commission of a crime, even if they take no part in the actual criminal offense. To be an accomplice or to aid and abet, you don't have to commit the actual criminal act itself, and yet still be criminally liable under the law. Most people know this. A similar act occurs on a regular basis, I believe, all over evangelicalism and fundamentalism, and specifically in this event, Chappell harbouring an unsaved heretic in his ministry (you know someone is unsaved long before the man commits the act of murder), a false believer and false teacher, and then whitewashing his crime after the fact.

(c) Chappell has great difficulty understanding the tremendous difference between a true born again Christian and a false professing "believer."

This in spite of the fact that most that profess are not possessors, they are false pretenders (Matt 7:13-14; Lk 13:23-24), in spite of the fact that the Bible in endless places differentiates between true and false believers. This issue is rampant throughout the IFB world, but not only there, moreson in evangelicalism and Protestantism and majority of the rest of Christendom.

>> The aforementioned point is an example of this, where he claims a false "Christian" as true. What horrible confusion! He does it throughout his books as well. Someone that habitually teaches and believes and behaves like this proves to be a false believer himself. He doesn’t have spiritual discernment and understanding of God’s truth because he is absent of the Spirit of Truth. He doesn't teach the true gospel because the true gospel has never saved him.

>> In the book, "A Heart For God" (1995), he writes,

"Satan uses false teachers and ungodly people to carry hearts away from the truth. You cannot expect the Christian life to harmonize with a worldly way of thinking. God's Word says, 'Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit.' There are people today who would like to sway you from your faith in Christ. Although you cannot lose your salvation, they would like to steal your sweet relationship with Christ." (p. 137)

Although it is true that those who are truly born of God cannot lose their salvation (1 John 3:9; 5:4), it is also true that those who are carried "away from the truth" and away from their "faith in Christ" were very likely never saved to begin with, and thus will be damned, as 2 Tim 2:12 warns!

"If we deny Him, He also will deny us." (2 Tim 2:12)

What will happen if God denies "us"? When Jesus declares, "I never knew you" (Matt 7:23), you end up in hell (see Matt 10:32-33; 7:21-23; Lk 13:23-28). This is the same biblical concept of shame. If you are ashamed of Christ, He will be ashamed of you. Both denying and shame are referring to someone that professes to be saved, but is not. They have never been born again, they have never performed the first act of conversion, and that is self-denial and death to self (Mk 8:34-38; Lk 9:23-26; Matt 10:32-39). El Chappell's church is loaded with people that deny Christ and are ashamed of Him, yet he treates them all as "saved," until they leave him, or criticize him or expose him? They're no longer "yes" people, and thus they would be treated as unsaved. The judger in this case is without discernment, unsaved himself.

>> Another example of Chappell's rejection of false believers, and then twisting Scripture to fit that false belief, can be found in the book "Grace for Godly Living." Referring to Gal 5:4, Chappell writes,

"In verse 4, "fallen from grace" does not mean that these Christians were losing their salvation. It means that they were simply making salvation of no effect in their daily lives." (p. 69, see also "Guided by Grace," p. 116)

It is true that a true born again Christian cannot lose their salvation, but Chappell misses the point of the passage, Gal 5:4, which reads:

"Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace."

So, Christ can "become of no effect" and you can "fall from grace" and yet be considered as one that is saved? These people were never saved to begin with. "Falling from grace" does not mean they are or were saved. All unsaved people have God's grace upon them, to differing degrees, dependant on how they respond to God's drawing, convicting, reproof and light. We see this throughout Scripture, for example Ti 2:11, where we are told that the "grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared unto all men." "All men" actually means ALL men. If Christ is of no effect to someone, how can they be saved? They can't (cf. Jn 14:6). This is exactly what Jesus points out in Jn 15:6, "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." That's a picture of hell, not heaven, and the one that is cast forth into hell, the branch that did not abide in Christ, was never saved to begin with; they never abode in Him.

>> Some years ago when professing Christians were being murdered and churches burnt in Egypt, El Chappell made a post on FB and Twitter about all these "Christians being martyred for their faith." The big problem is that apart from a very very few unknown Bible believers, the thousands of "Christians" and "Christian" churches being burned are Coptic Catholics, who preach and teach a religion of works that sends as many people to hell as Islamist jihadists, though they are certainly not as evil or demon possessed as moslems. Coptic "Christians" are essentially Catholics, and Catholicism is the Great Whore and Mother of all Harlots (Rev 17-18), the one world church of the Antichrist, who is infiltrating every aspect of life, preparing people to accept the lie and worship Satan's superman. Yet, the ecumenical minded "evangelical Christian" of America, including some fundamentalists such as El Chappell, either don't know or cannot discern the difference between Catholicism, like the Coptics, and true born again Bible believers. Our Baptist forefathers sure knew it, and died for it. Men like El Chappell shame them by embracing and integrating and downplaying the Biblical distinction. To not understand and discern the heresy and apostasy and evil of Catholicism and rather consider its followers as "Christians," is 100% reflective of a false teacher and wolf in sheep's clothing, who, either wittingly or unwittingly, is muddying the waters between Biblical Christianity and Apostate/Pagan Christendom.

The issue here is Chappell's lack of understanding of Scripture that repeatedly warns of false believers, and that majority of professing believers are in fact false "believers" that have never been genuinely born again. Chappell essentially believes anyone that professes to be a Christian, is a Christian. How utterly deceieved he is. God’s Word confirms God’s love is not in those that love the world (1 Jn. 2:15; cf. Jn. 5:42) demonstrated by not doing His will (1 Jn. 2:17; cf. Matt. 7:21) and rather live after the lusts of their eyes and flesh and pride of life (1 Jn. 2:16), who are in fact His enemies (Jam. 4:4). Chappell has misled and destroyed the faith of many and made many a false professor, and many kept as merely that.

(d) Chappell does not understand assurance of salvation, thus corrupts and perverts this teaching of Scripture, which fits with the false gospel.

>> Chappell perverts the critical teaching of the assurance of salvation in his book, "To Seek and To Save" (1996), where he writes,

"One final suggestion concerning assurance of salvation is that each soul winner should write down the date of the new convert's salvation in the new convert's Bible or on a gospel tract. The soul winner may want to explain to the new Christian that this is his spiritual birthday and that he does not ever have to doubt his salvation because he has the promise of the Word of God that, because he believed on Jesus Christ as his Saviour on such-and-such a date, he has everlasting life (John 5:24)."

There is nothing in the entire Bible that reads even remotely like this concerning assurance of salvation. It is all damnable lies and pure fabrication made out of sheer cloth. It goes directly against Paul's exhortation to the Corinthians:

"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" (2 Cor 13:5)

Jesus declared, "he that endureth to the end shall be saved," (Matt 10:22) not "he that believed on such-and-such a date." Of course there is a day that all who are born again were rescued and regenerated, but its the endurance and continuation of keeping in God's will and Word that proves man is saved, since man cannot see the heart. He that relies on his day of profession is relying on a concept found nowhere in the Word of God. Scripture teaches that a person can believe in vain (1 Cor 15:2), receive the grace of God in vain (2 Cor 6:1), even be sanctified (set apart) by the blood of the covenant (Heb 10:29), and still end up in hell (Rev 21:8). Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;" (Jn 8:31). If a person's life is in question to what the Bible describes as a person who knows God (e.g. 1 Jn 2:3-5), then they ought to indeed question their salvation and (Pr 9:10; Phil 2:10-12) and make their calling and election sure (2 Pet 1:10).

>> Further confusion and perversion of assurance of salvation is found in his book, "Guided by Grace" (2000), where he writes:

"Let me be clear - one's lifestyle will never change that person's standing with God. If you are truly saved, then positionally you are sanctified and sealed before a mighty God, and nothing can change that." (p. 111; similar statement in Grace for Godly Living, p. 87)

This is a brutal and extremely compromised statement to make, one that should never ever escape the lips of any so-called "preacher." Why even say that? Of course true born again believers have eternal security of salvation and that can never change, but that persons lifestyle will match up with that profession. If it doesn't, its likely because the person is not actually saved. You can read more from these two related articles:

(e) Chappell's associations reflects a false gospel.

He writes and prints articles on his website about and for false professing believers who have never been born again and are in fact wolves in sheep’s clothing. But he is blind to it. Robert Bakss from Brisbane, Australia is one such example, but the truth of the matter is, many of the men that write for his 127 Ministry, or preach at his spiritual leadership conferences or church or college, are very likely unregenerate. Very, very likely, since they all preach the same perverted false "gospel," all promote the same heresies exposed in this report and other reports like this one (e.g., Exposing Michael Sullivant, Exposing Caleb Garraway, Exposing Sword of the Lord, Exposing King James Bible Research Council, Exposing the late Gordon Conner [a buddy of El Chappell, preacher at LBC conferences, and 127 Ministry writer -- hater of godliness and righteousness], Exposing Jack Hyles, Exposing S.M. Davis, Exposing Reg Kelly, etc). His praise and exaltation of his pastor Jeremy Whitman, a double murderer (of another member of LBC, and then himself), is sickening, wicked and very reflective of what a wolf in sheep's clothing Chappell really is.

Rick Flanders. The revivalist Flanders is a deeply devoted El Chappell Cartel member, one of the members of the Old Boys Club. He is a listed author on Chappell's Ministry 127 site. He preaches in Chappells churches, which are revivalists churches and Sword of the Lord churches, and other similar ones, and really any church that will have him, regardless of flavour. Flanders is also a Sword of the Lord guy, which is clearly distinguished by its false repentance and gospel, and many, many other serious errors and man-centered problems, as we expose here and here. These men all propagate a false, perverted gospel, and that is why there churches are bastions of man-centredness and leaven and false professions.

Flanders completely denies true Biblical repentance, and definitely Christ's Lordship, purveying an utterly perverted gospel of easy believism and quick prayerism, fake "converts," all in the name of revivalism, all for the glory and fame of Rick Flanders. He is also stock full of Keswick heresy right to the top of the cranium, which dovetails with his corrupt gospel. We expose him here for his seriously perverted gospel and sanctification: Exposing Rick Flanders Field of False Gospel and False Sanctification, Revivalism, and Deception.

Robert Bakss. Bakss authored the book “Worship Wars” and used to be a writer for Chappell's 127 Ministry, until his sexual immorailty ans financial scandal came to light. Only then did Chappell softly "separate" from him, meaning, he merely scrubbed all his material from their church and college websites. We have no doubt that he gave Bakss a call after the scandals came to light, comforting him in his sin by whispering sweet nothings in his ear. Because that is what these man-centered IFB heretics do. Its not separation, its never reproof, but always damage control and encourging the big man with his big tent, regardless of sin or error (adultery, murder, it don't matter). Chappell however didn't "separate" from him when he should have, when a true preacher and servant of Christ would have, that is, after his ungodly, worldly, heretical and dangerously false "Worship Wars” book came out, which is from the first page to the last full of heresy, ungodliness and evil, promoting the ungodly "worship" music of the world by giving excuse for it and promoting it, and exposing him as a heretic and apostate. In the book Bakss claims even hip hop and metal rock are acceptable under some conditions, that music is morally neutral, sugar coats the essence and effect of the rock back beat, justifies the emotionalism and experience orientation of charismatic music. Click here to read a pdf report on it. The book is also loaded with logical fallacies (red herrings and straw man) and bearing false witness. None of this should come as any surprise when you read of how this wolf in sheep's clothing was "saved," and then what all occured after, events that alone should have prevented any relationship between Bakss and Chappell to begin with. But they agreed, not only with their false gospel but also worldly, ungodly CCM music can be adapted to their "worship" services.

Bakss has always been clearly heretical, exposed by his truckloads of unsound doctrine, his ecumenicalism and love for the world, and like the typical wolf in sheep clothing he is a master of straw man and unscriptural, irrational logic, of the face-palm inducing and nauseous kind. To "separate" when the big immoral scandal comes to light (a sin that was predicatably in the making considering all the heresies he was embracing, very very common in such environments) is like taking care of the little mice that scurry around the room while the fat elephant in the centre of the room is completely ignored. That fat elephant is the false gospel and false Jesus and false doctrine, which he has always been preaching, a repentant-less false and ear tickling Hyles-type “gospel” of easy-believism (just like Chappell of course), hence why he is having a return-to-the-world party, fulfilling the true proverb (Pr. 26:11), the dog returning to his vomit and pig to the mire (2 Pet. 2:17-22; cf. Is. 56:10-11). Saved people don't go apostate (cf. 2 Pet 2:1-22); Bakss was always an apostate and his perverted “gospel” clearly points to that. Before his immoral scandals came to light, he was embraced and celebrated by Chappell.

Think about this for a moment. Instead of being obedient to Scripture and dealing with the wolf (Ac. 20:28, 31), Chappell embraced the grievous wol[f]" who "enter[ed] in among you, not sparing the flock.” (Ac. 20:29). Absolutely unbelievable. When one looks at Bakss’s profession of faith, we can see why all these things came into place (published by Chappell): “He was fourteen when a high school friend invited him to a Billy Graham crusade. It was there he accepted Christ as his Saviour. Robert’s decision to trust Christ would have far-reaching results.” (http://ministry127.com/pastoral-leadership/miracles-down-under). This is no “miracle,” not even down under, where there is very little true Biblical Christianity, knowing this first hand. This is heretical easy-decisionism, the product of a false gospel. An empty profession with no repentance and no reception of the LORD Jesus Christ, all the product of a dead thorny souled faith (Jam. 2; Mk 4:7, 18-19). What occured after exposes this even further. He apparently “forgot” about his “profession of faith” or “decision” as such easy-believist would love to call it, and “became occupied with high school and later, with law school. He married . . . and began working in a prominent law firm. It was not until the newlyweds had a child that Robert remembered his decision at the crusade. His first child provoked a desire in him to create a different—not average—lifestyle for his family. Because of this, the Bakss family became members at an independent Baptist church in Queensland where they recommitted their lives to Christ. At this point, Robert’s life seemed complete. It wasn’t long, however, until the Lord’s calling became obvious.” (ibid). How convenient, his "calling" fit right into what he really wanted: power, control, popularity, etc. Hence the lawyer appointment. Pursuing selfish glory and lust for power. Everything written by Chappell is terrible heresy, which he is blind to! Its the currency of a lost but professing “believer”, so clearly reflective of the Simon Magi (Ac 8) and the thorny soil kind (Matt 13:7, 22). Notice he didn't join an IFB church because of a love for God’s truth and that it aligns the closes to God’s Word among churches today; No, it was his first child that provoked it. Just. Wow. Notice also at what point his life became complete. Not at his “salvation” (which would be Biblical) but when he was married, finished school, “working in a prominent law firm,” had a baby, was a member at an IFB church, and had “recommitted [his] [life] to Christ.” I’m speechless. Neo-evangelicalism 101, no different than what we expose here. “Decision,” and humanistic desires, and “recommitted their lives to Christ” are all the currency of Keswick “theology.” The phrases “accepted Christ as his Saviour” and “decision to trust Christ” and “decision at the crusade” are unscriptural and reflective of an anemic, false gospel that doesn’t save. Its “another gospel.” (2 Cor. 11:4), one warned of Paul as a perverted gospel (Gal. 1:6-9).

Bakss's speech bewrayeth himself. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Pr. 23:7a). The lost person can't change his heart anymore then the leopard his spots. Eventually their imitation (see 2 Tim. 3:7-9) will fade away and "their folly shall be manifest" (2 Tim. 3:9), if not here then for sure in eternity. All that he has done is attempted to put new wine into an old bottle, and a new cloth unto an old garment. The end result of that is “the rent is made worse” and “the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish” (Matt. 9:16-17). Easy believism does that.

Bakss is a perfect fulfilment of the thorny soil, the soul that “hear[s] the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” (Mk. 4:18-19). This “unfruitful” does not mean he was once fruitful, it means as defined in the same parable by the Lord Jesus, that the seed “fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded NO fruit.” (Mk. 4:7). Ju. 1:12 defines it as “trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;” which ties into what John the Baptist and Jesus were frequently teaching about true fruit as product from true repentance and salvation, and those who produce corrupt fruit are false teachers who will be hewn down and cast into eternal “unquenchable fire” (Matt. 7:15-20; 3:1-12). Bakss’s mother had experienced the same thing ten years prior the article tells us, and when this happened to Robert, she started attending church for the first time with him. Wow, ten years of zero desire to obey Scripture, knowing what the Bible says about truly saved people loving the Lord and their brethren immediately at conversion (1 Jn. 2–5). When God miraculously saved me in the Middle East surrounded by Moslems, I prayed that God would send true brethren in Christ I could fellowship with, even though I knew nothing about what 1 Jn 3–5 says about love for the brethren, and within 24 hours I was fellowshipping with men who were part of an underground church, because I loved the brethren. All saved people meet all the Biblical evidence of salvation, not false professors however.

R.B. Oulette. Oulette is very closely tied to LBC and West Coast, preaches at their events and conferences, and also writes for 127 Ministry. He is of the same pot-pourri mixture of cultic, Hylesites, movement and fundigelicals, plenty of unsound doctrines and beliefs and perversion of Scripture, and man-centredness/man-worship. He also preaches the same heretical messages and perverted gospel. His is a master manipulator of scripture, of preaching, of misusing Scripture. Oulette has it done to a performance art. He likely learned this mastery of pragmatism from the wolf Jack Hyles. God's Word isn't the authority in preaching of men like Oulette, but the rhetoric. Its the showmanship that matters: the style of speaking, shouting, rhythmic pattern of preaching in a crescendo and decrescendo manner, specifically pronouncing words for effect, using his voice to draw and sway and excite the audience. This is psychologically manipulating the people and he didn't learn it from God's Word. It is not of the Holy Spirit. But you do see it all over the Charismatic movement. It is revivalism, one of the things that makes this abhorrent philosophy unscriptural. It is against the Bible. Ouletter has turned preaching into an act, to stir the people in favour of him, not truth. This is one of the reasons why people are never truly changed in these environments. The abhorrent techniques tying into the manipulative methods of evangelism, and corruption of the gospel. Its not about genuinely delivering people from the clutches of Satan or the snares of death; there isn't real, deep concern over the souls of sinners, but rather a performance that is staged to produce an effect. That is whats important in these man-centred, seeker-sensitivespecific for fundigelicalsenvironments, to keep the people coming, entertained, amused, dressed in religious garb while they continue down the broad path unto destruction and damnation, gleefully praising and admiring and promoting the great politician behind the pulpit. The blind leading the blind. It is disgraceful and shameful.

First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, Hyles Church. In Feb of 2013 a group of prominent IFB pastors produced a video praising First Baptist Church of Hammond, IN, and giving their unqualified blessing to the church and the ministry of the new pastor, John Wilkerson, a Hyles-Anderson College graduate. These pastors include the heads of the two largest IFB schools: Clarence Sexton on the east coast and Paul Chappell on the west coast. Here is what El Chappell wrote on behalf of the westcoast cartel:

“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Wilkerson and your family as you begin ministry at the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, and I want to congratulate the church, as well. . . . I want to encourage you to stand together with your pastor and to strive together for the faith of the gospel. Congratulations.”

The troubling statement speaks volumes. Wilkerson's gospel is Hyles gospel. Its one and the same. Nothing has ever changed at First Baptist or Hyles-Anderson College. Their false gospel is corrupted, its perverted, its the mostly horrible act of ushering false pretending "believers" into the unquenchable fires of hell. No repentance, no real conversions, no real Biblical evangelism, but yes to easy believism and quick prayerism and numberism, the church and college the very benchmark of perversion of the gospel concerning these matters. But thats not all. The sin and reproach of Christ that has occured at First Baptist and spread across the world is massive, with many books, articles, reports written on the subject, including our own, here and here and here. For example: horrednously false gospel and making many thousands two-fold children of hell, massive sexual immorality and crimes (Dave Hyles, Ted Butler, Christopher Settlemoir, Charles Shifflett, Joseph Combs, Chester Mulligan, William Beith, Craig Sission, Kerry Martin, and Jack Schaap, and dozens of others, if not hundreds, an absolute plague of fornicating criminal preachers tied to FBC of Hammond and its college), adultery (Hyles himself, dozens of others), child molestation (Jack Schaap, dozens of others), great diabolical boasting of self or others or their church or numbers, man-worship, cultish man-centredness, massive amounts of unsound doctrine and perversion/wresting of Scripture, promoting prayers to the dead, evil and blasphemous teachings, cultish tyranny and lording, turning "church" into a carnal circus, etc. These are the things that heretics like Sexton and El Chappell should have focused on and renounced pubicly, but the day that would occur in the IFB world of unntouchable ecclesiastical rock stars. For further reading, see Let Us Prey: Big Trouble at First Baptist Church” and David Cloud's response to that article: “Dear Chicago Magazine.”

Neither has Wilkerson ever renounced or denounced these evil unfruitful works of darkness since he took over the pastorate from the ungodly, predator, and wolf in sheep's clothing Jack Schaap. He has kept up the idolatrous Hyles statue, continues to accepts his false gospel and non-repentance over the other well-documented things, continues to sell his books in their bookstore, and that idolatry is fine. He even preached with the president of the FBFI, Kevin Schaal (a heretic in his own right), at the Van Gelderen's Victory Conference in Menominee Falls (Mar 2-5, 2020), a college flooded with Keswick/ higher life/ revivalism heresy and a perverted gospel, also preaching a similar form of easy believism, false repentant-less gospel. They are peas in a pod. The “gospel” on the First Baptist website continues to propagate the same perverted “gospel” as Hyles of no repentance and then saying the sinners prayer (https://www.fbchammond.com/salvation/). At the bottom of that page on salvation, they post the video The Gospel Film narrated by Caleb Garraway, which we cover and expose here at 20/20. This is unsurprising considering that Garraway preaches the same watered-down, shallow, corrupted, repentant-less gospel as Hyles, Wilkerson, and Hyles-Anderson, which is unsurprising since he has claimed many times that Jack Hyles is his idol and reason for being a pastor. Garraway even uses Hyles as the narrator preacher in his short film The Battle for Truth. The Hyles-Anderson doctrinal statement says nothing about repentance, leaving out the word and the principles of how the lost must be saved. The mission agency run by FBC totally omits both the word and the idea of repentance in its doctrinal statement about salvation (https://www.fbmi.org/doctrine). Even just a cursory glance over Hyles (and Schaap’s) doctrine and deeds over the course of their ministries would reveal to any discerning Christian that these men were false teachers, false prophets, wolves, vipers, dogs, and evil workers. Those are Biblical words, describing people of their very nature. It is sad that they used the name Baptist but they was no more Baptist than Balaam was. It is also very sad that they have hurt so many people and misrepresented Christianity, leading to only the Lord knows how many people blaspheming the name of Christ (Rom 2:23-24) and damned to the fires of eternal hell, but their preaching and practice plainly evince they were never what they claimed to be, long before the big scandals came out.

Most of these points on their own, never mind combined, make it impossible for one to act as if the church or college can be cleared of their past sins or be embraced by NT churches or that they now suddenly teach a Biblical gospel and sound doctrine. They haven’t been cleared. Nothing has changed.

This is what El Chappell was applauding when he was praising and congratulating Wilkerson, and this is the false gospel that he was referring to when he stated, "strive together for the faith of the gospel," quoting from Phil 1:17. Its to bad that the man behind Striving Together rejects the Biblical manner of striving together for true Biblical unity (1 Cor 1:10) while quoting Phil 1:17 that speaks of true unity of "one spirit," and "with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;" except most are unsaved and have a dead spirit thus certainly not "one spirit" which implies a quickened spirit, or "one mind" as their gospel is corrupt and perverted and falls way short of actually genuinely converting sinners, and on the same hand, rejecting the striving that must take place for a sinner to be born again and enter the kingdom of God, which the Lord detailed to the inquiry whether "few that be saved?", describing what it takes to be saved: "Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able." (Lk 13:23-24). One can only guess how El Chappell would pervert this passage, and the meaning of "strive," to make it fit his very non-striving "gospel."

So in spite of the well-documented fact Jack Hyles was an unrepentant pompous heretic and wolf in sheep’s clothing who perverted the truth for his own personal and sick twisted means, and in spite of the fact that the church/school has never rebuked the sins of Jack Hyles or Jack Schaap beforef all as 1 Tim 5:20 requires (nor were they ever disciplined), and in spite of the fact the church and college still retain on their staff men who stood by silently consenting while Schaap wrote some of the most heretically perverted things ever written about the Lord's Supper, and in spite of the fact Ray Young who regularly and publicly proclaimed that he would commit sin if Hyles told him to, was retained on staff by Mr. Wilkerson until his retirement (even co- and president of the College for years, vice chancellor presently), in spite of the ungodly and blasphemous teachings of Jack Schaap and his immorality, and in spite of the fact that the church and school continue to teach many other heresies and even damnable heresies, with majority of Hyles sermons loaded with blatant false doctrine, — in spite of all these things and so much more, pastor Paul "El" Chappell has never severed his ties with Jack Hyles or First Baptist Church or Hyles-Anderson’s College, and instead heaped praise and congratulatory messages on them, on both the Wilkerson's and the church.

El Chappell is a rejector of God's truth, in this case 1 Tim 5:20-21,

"Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.”

In environments such as the West Coast Cartel, the prospect of ever observing or encountering a true superdramatic, supernatural regeneration of a repentant sinner is almost unheard of. It would be perhaps about as rare as counting teeth in a hen's mouth.

True biblical salvation is what the Lord Jesus himself preached: "And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." (Mk. 1:15). God's for ever settled Word contains a lot about repentance. And while many despise it, won't include it in their gospel preaching, even redefine it, in the end, it will remain. Heaven and earth shall pass away but God's words will not. His authoritative command still stands today, undiminished in power, and calls all men every where to repent.

Men that pervert the gospel are more wicked than anyone, even worse that the wicked moslem devil that blows himself up in a school bus, even worse than what king Herod did, mass genocide of toddlers on a scale of bad. Sodom and Gommorah will have it better at the judgment than these (Matt 11).

I don't believe that El Chappell and the LBC people actually like the true gospel. Based on their repulsion of many Bible truths, their rejection of the true gospel, denial of critical doctrines associated with the gospel, I believe they are turned off by the actual true gospel of Christ and truth of God's Word, which is why they leave many parts of the Bible out in their sermons and teachings, parts that won't work for them in the congregation they are preaching to. It's either that, or they just doesn't know what they're talking about. The latter is a more merciful analysis than the former, though it points to an unregenerate nature to the same degree as the former. Maybe it is some combination of purposeful and ignorant deceit. The fact that they enjoy and embrace serious perverts of the gospel and ravening heretics, both individuals and organisations, lends further support to this analysis.

I would encourage all those who endorse or align with what I am exposing here to reject the counterfeit and placebo you have embraced and read here a true account of the gospel of Jesus Christ, on How A Sinner Can Be Truly Saved and Have Eternal Life. You also need to also hit the eject button on these heretics and false teachers.

The reality of professing believers who are still lost is presented throughout the Bible and there are many. There is Lot’s wife (Gen 19:26; Lk 17:26-33); King Joash (2 Ki 12; 2 Ch 24); Balaam (Num 23-24; Ju 1:11); Esau (Gen 25; 27; Heb 12:15-17); Judas (Ps. 109; Jn. 6:70-71; Matt 27; Jn 13); Simon (Ac 8); Hebrews in the Wilderness (Ps 78; 106; Heb 3:6–4:11; 1 Cor 10:1-10; 2 Cor 3:7–4:4; etc); Pharisees, Scribes, Lawyers and Chief Rulers (Matt 23; Lk 11:37–12:1; Jn 12:42-48); False spies (Lk 20:20); False Jewish believers (Jn 2:23-25); False disciples (Jn 6:66); those that professed to believe in Jesus in Jn 8:30-31 were false believers (Jn 8:32-59); etc. The Bible is clear that many will profess to believe but few are actually saved. We see plenty of examples of that in Scripture. In fact, of the multitudes that professed to believe in Jn. 2:23-25 and professed to be Christ’s disciples in Jn. 6:60-66, none were true believers. They were all hypocrites. That actually went for almost everyone that followed Christ. In the end Christ was left with only a little flock (Lk 12:32). This resonates with El Chappell, who thinks he has a large flock while in reality very likely doesn't even have a little flock. He's a stranger with a different flock (Jn 10:1-5).

2. El Chappell's Spite for Criticisim and Refusal to Heed Reproof and Admonishment, Exposes him as a Heretic and False Teacher.

El Chappell absolutely despises any form of criticism. In response to David Clouds expose of him in 2011, Chappell publicly claimed that critics should be treated like bubblegum. In a blog article entitled “Questions to Ask When Criticized” written Aug 8, 2011, Chappell advises that God’s people treat “critics” like “bubble gum.” His answer to criticism is not whether the critic is speaking the truth but rather to ask dozens of questions about the critic and his motives. How utterly man-centered and unscriptural, entirely contrary to the God-demanded behaviour and entreatment of pastors (e.g., Jam 3:13-18; Ti 1; 1 Tim 3). The proper test of a critic is not motives (which is evil judging) or questions about the critic, but rather is he speaking the truth. Even if the critic is Balaam or Balaam’s ass, if he is speaking the truth, the professing believer (and especially someone in a church office) needs to to take heed.

The only type of "reproof" that Chappel believes in, according to his own words, is private "reproof," which is entirely ineffective when we are talking about public issues. But it makes sense, since he actually despises testing, judging, warning, reproving, rebuking, and exposing since that doesn't build big coalitions and empires. He is not concerned over what God wants, but rather what El Chappell wants, because he doesn't serve the Lord Jesus Christ, but his own belly (Rom 16:18). There are definitely IFB popes who like this top down mindset, where they issue decrees that are infallible and above testing, and El Chappell is one such pope. God adamantly demands of every preacher that claims the name of Christ to warn, reprove, rebuke, and expose, but what Chappell rather does is malign these critical and most-mentioned things of the NT, and those that obey it. The maligning occurs on the same platforms (e.g., preaching of sermons, books such as “To Seek and to Save”) where he should be obeying these matters. Never would Chappell warn about heresies running rampant among the IFB in any arena where it could be effective (publicly, in church sermons, conferences, articles, etc), heresies such as Calvinism (especially Calvinism!), modern Bible perversions and textual criticism, ecumeniclism and affiliation with “conservative evangelicals” and the SBC, the downgrading of modest and gender distinctive dress and mocking of these Biblical standards, etc.

The men that Chappell has in his little socialist Cartel are all of the same stripe, unquestioning loyalty to man (placing men above reproof, especially those in their own ciricles). Don't criticise fellow-IFB men and definitely don't separate from them. In an article titled “Should I Separate from Fellow Independent Baptists” (June 13, 2011) by the snake-oil salesman Scott Wendal of Valley Forge Baptist Temple posted on Chappell's online 127 Ministry, Wendal utterly rejects the critical doctrine of separation with the conclusion that we should not separate from other IFB's (with Chappell obviously in agreement):

“Let’s start praying for our independent Baptist brethren, rather than separating from them! Who knows--God may bless you now and reward you later for this wise decision.

The Scripture warns that "a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump" (1 Cor. 5:6; Gal. 5:9). This warning is repeated twice in Scripture, once for sin, and once for error, because it is such an important truth. But big boy big camp IFB preachers apparently think that it doesn't apply to them, that they aren’t susceptible to that principle, because they don’t separate where they should, they don't stand for the actual truth of Scripture, they don't warn about errors and teachers of error, and they certainly don't accept any reproof or admonishment, except from the "annointed" men in their own cartel circles and only when it comes to some “extreme” matter. But where they do apply their attention is to maligning and sidelining those who do give reproof or admonishment. There they "take a stand," fulfilling Pr 17:15,

"He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD."

A true preacher of God's Word is "peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy" (Jam 3:17), but Chappell is not only not easy to be entreated but impossible to be entreated, not full of good fruits, a master of partiality, and a hypocrite.

If ever there were a time for public reproof of error committed by IFB preachers and leaders, it is today, when the movement is being leavened over by a wide assortment of heresies and compromises; but what we have instead is a definite and purposeful circling of the wagons against “criticism” on the part of the most influential leaders and their supporters.

3. El Chappell's Man-Centered Pragmatism and Manipulation, Exposes him as a Heretic and False Teacher.

Chappell, like many of his big name contemporaries, is a master of pragmatism. Throughout this report we give examples of this, but here are more.

>> Cultish, reject of Biblical reproof, man-centred, pragmatic pulpiteer. El Chappell consistently practices the evil sin of partiality and respect of persons, which is the absolute norm in vast majority of IFB pastorships today. Pastors are apparently above admonishment, and can never be corrected, many have found that out. Especially not when they are IFB’s, and of course completely forbidden if they are his “friends.” I guess deceitful kisses of an enemy are preferred over the faithful wounds of a friend (Pr 27:6). This is how Baptist popery starts and then maintains. He detests warning and exposing error, especially that of IFB pastors who he thinks are above reproof. He maligns people such as us who do reprove error and sin. Not receiving critique and criticism is a form of a cult.

To El Chappell its about money, and numbers, and “friendships” and who knows what else is hidden away in his closet. He is okay with ungodly worldliness in his church, doesn't want to establish true Biblical standards based upon godliness, holiness and righteousness, since then he wouldn’t have anybody in the church, since vast majority are unregenerate. Concern over whether someone is truly saved or not is not as important as filling the pews with people, nor is obeying God’s Word regardless of the earthly outcome or cost. This is further why he is so pragmatic in dealing with false teachers. This is language of a pragmatic who doesn’t respond to Scripture in black and white. Pragmatics are compromisers or rebels against God’s Word and heretics who usurps God’s Word and authority with his own ideas, philosophies and practice. To say he is extremely pragmatic would be an understatement. Many of the things mentioned in the previous points stem out of pragmatism. Pragmatists however don’t serve the Lord Jesus Christ; they serve their bellies (Rom 16:17-18). If they did serve the Lord, they would do what He says (Jn 14:15-24; 1 Jn 2:3-5), and “keep this commandment [1 Tim 6:11-13] without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:” (1 Tim 6:14). He is far removed from Biblical obedience in a number of matters; there appears to be only some semblance.

>> Manipulation occurs through the manner and style of preaching. The authority of the message by men like El Chappell is the rhetoric, the use of language and a style of speaking, the stories, the shouting, the rhythmic pattern, the pronunciation of words, rising and lowering, the loudness and the softness, the use of his voice to sway an audience. The people warming the pews feel something that they think is the Holy Spirit, but its not.

Preaching should be the furthest thing from manipulation, yet its front center for churches like LBC. Preaching should not be the use of the voice or stories or human excitement to stir people, yet that is exactly what occurs at LBC and WCBC (along with all the hundreds of people tied to this Cartel). You see this sort of manipulation all over the Charismatic movement. It is revivalism but it isn't biblical. It is actually against the Bible. These people should be preaching what the Bible says, but it doesn't happen. Therefore we expose it. Preaching is not an act, an event, a speech that depends on stirring techniques to change people. When men who do that are praised and admired and used and elevated, like Chappell is, that hurts everyone.

>> El Chappell is a pragmatist church growth compromiser, using the methods of neo-evangelicals and emerging churchers to grow churches. God's Word isn't sufficient; El Chappell has to go to those who use the ways of the world, including the business practices of the world, to build big, successful "churches." Chappell has actually sent staff to Rick Warrens seminars to learn how to do church better. Wow, truly the behaviour of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Rick Warren is a wicked false teacher and ravening wolf in sheep's clothing responsible for more decieved people in hell than probably any other "evangelical," but that doesn't stop a heretic like Chappell from sending his people to be taught and infleunced by "the voice of strangers." (Jn 10:1-5). Chappell does these things because he believes big churches are healthy and small churches are struggling because something is wrong, in the same vein as the heretic John R. Rice, whose immortal words condemned small churches as sinful: “It is not a sin for a church to start small. It is a sin for a church to stay small.” I’m sure the master pragmatist had a chapter and verse on that one, twisted to the degree needed. But he didn't actually need one. He, after all, had a big church, so his experience rectified his words. But make sure you do not sin so against the Lord and have a small church, which is obviously struggling according to the West Coast Cartel leader. There goes the unreproved and most faithful small church of "little strength," the Philadelphia church (Rev 3). All this awful and heretical pragmatism has worked out well for El Chappell, building his church from 12 people to 9,000, which the big kahuna couldn't help but pompously declare in his long list of great accomplisments on the LBC website, including their giving away of $1,000,000 annually to missions (of course on the back of the unBiblical "faith promise missions giving" and unscriptural "tithing," where deceived people are forking over their hard earned money and savings to help build a Cartel Empire), supporting 200+ missionaries, as "the church ministers on a campus valued at over 70 million dollars," "operating a thriving bus ministry," and "ministries serving both Spanish- and Korean-speaking people," and further in the long lost of acompishments, that "more than 35,000 people have professed Christ as Savior and over 15,000 have been baptized" since 1986. Notice the church has 9,000 members, while 35,000 have "professed Christ." Wow, no numerical discrepancy there. The aforementioned webpage lists off acomplishments after acomplishments, how great Chappell has become with his big church, and big school, and big money, and great authorship, and many other big acomplishments. It is absolutely sickening, the face-in-the-palm kind of nausea, where you want to projectile vomit all over the computer. Bravo, bravo to the great, big man with a great big tent, on his great worldly accomplishments, building an empire of dead, unregenerate, flesh-serving man-serving heretics loyal to the West Coast Cartel Leader. What an utter despicable shame! We ponder how deplorably low the percentage is of actually saved, truly born again people amongst the unsaved false pretending charlatans at LBC and WCBC?? 1%?? Could it be even that high? We have our doubts.

For some reason, the continual dependence on these big names comes from the unbiblical notion that success=bigness (which requires a certain amount of compromise and enabling), rather than the true Biblical teaching that success=faithfulness. Book after book is being published. Lots of money is being made. Lots of debt. Its bigness bigger than Hyles ever achieved. Chappell's own son has a heretical CCM church plant and the end of this bigness will not be pretty.

>> Pragmatism in corrupting and denying the importance of all doctrine in Scripture, by dividing doctrine into "essentials" and "non-essentials," a seriously heretical neo-evangelical doctrine, that was promoted in the book "Church Still Works" by Chappell and Clayton Reed. Doctrine itself is corrupted by dividing into “essentials” and “non-essentials,” as if there is anything non-essential in the Bible (what it really is, is a means to justify doctrinal and practical error, to keep coalitions, to ignore error and differences). Clearly not every doctrine of scripture is of equal importance, but there is not a hint anywhere that some doctrines are to be treated as “non-essential” in the sense of whether or not we should obey them or take a stand for them, or whether we should associate with someone that follows a false doctrine they would classify as "non-essential." Human opinions over God's Word is maybe the only "non-essential." The list of "essentials" has been predicatably cut down in many camps where this heresy is taught to pretty much one: the gospel but ironically the gospel is corrupted in these circles as well (of course!), while the list of "non-essentials" keeps growing.

This heresyinvented by the ungodly heretic and apostate Augustine (“Essentials, unity; In non-essentials, liberty; In all things, love")is so unBiblical and heretical, any so-called professing "Christian" or "Church" that embraces it is immediately indicted with unregeneracy, a false pretending charlatan, heretic and wolf in sheep's clothing. Period. It is no coincidence that this unBiblical and heretical phrase and philosophy guides majority of Christendom today, practiced relgiously by them, since almost all are unsaved, and of these false professing "believers" vast majority are heretics and apostates today. For furter rebuttal of this heresy, keep reading here: The False Practice of Ranking Doctrine into “Essentials” and “Non-Essentials” is Phariseeism.

>> Chappell's statement on "Divorce and Remarriage" in the LBC statement of faith is pure pragmatism, and sinful and compromised heresy:

"We believe that God disapproves of and forbids divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies. Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may not be considered for the offices of pastor or deacon or those administrative positions within the church that would consist of pastoral duties. (Malachi 2:14-17; Matthew 19:3-12; Romans 7:1-3; 1 Timothy 3:2, 12; Titus 1:6)"

The second sentence onwards is a complete contradiction of the first. If "God disapproves of and forbids divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies" then He obviously disapproves of and forbids divorce, as in, it is not allowed in any circumstance. This is true but the remainder of the statement approves of divorce and remarriage ("Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the church and be greatly used of God for Christian service..."). No, they cannot be greatly used of God for Christian service, because they are adulterers and adulteresses, and such none are actually genuinely saved people, they'll never inherit God's kingdom. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. The end of the adulterer or adulteress is eternal and unquenchable hell fire:

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, . . . nor adulterers, . . . shall inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Cor 6:9-10)

The subject of divorce and remarriage is covered throughout Scripture and its crystal clear and perspicuously plain, noted in passages such as Gen 2:24; Mal 2:14-16; Matt 5:32; 19:2-9; Mk 10:2-11; Lk 16:18; Rom 7:1-3; 1 Cor 7:10-11, 39. In our opinion its one of easiest doctrines in all of Scripture to understand, but muddled and corrupted by man in their lust to enter the forbidden. We go into detail on this critically important doctrine here: Marriage, Divorce and Remarriage.

Many corrupt De 24:1-4 so as to justify divorce and remarriage, which is wicked, evil, exceedingly heretical and major wresting of Scripture, which is an "error of the wicked" (2 Pet 3:16-17). Deuteronomy 24:1-4 as a Means of Justifying Divorce and Remarriage, No Return to Covenant Spouse.

>> Chappell is also a master of straw man and logical fallacies, always hiding or obscuring something. Case in point: Mike Zachary. Zachary was investigated for alleged sexual misconduct involving a minor while working at North Valley Baptist Church and later at WCBC. The details of the incident were not fully disclosed, but he was dismissed from his position at WCBC in 2014. Chappell and LBC did a lot of hiding and obscuring in this case, and have never fully disclosed what occured there.

4. El Chappell’s Approval of his Heretical Son who is Clearly an Unsaved False Teacher and Heretic, and Other Contemporary Heretics Being Mentored by Chappell, Exposes Him as a Heretic and False Teacher.

The state of California is being planted with contemporary, worldly, neo-evangelical "churches" that are products of, or spin-offs of, El Chappell, LBC and WCBC, corrupt fruit from a corrupt tree (Matt 7:15-20), yet this isn't abnormal today by any means, occuring everywhere across America and the world. A nation where Chappell has done significant damage is in the Philippines, a people who are quick to join a religious cause, and we have personally witnessed the fruit of its contemporary heresy.

Matt Chapell, the son of El Chappell and a member of the West Coast Cartel, and prepared by LBC and WCBC, is the pastor of Rock Hill Chuch in California, a full blown worldly, contemporary, emergent, neo-evangelical church, with no dress standards, no hellfire and brimstone preaching and in fact no negative preaching at all, no godly hymns, no godly standards, no separation, none of this Bible thumping stuff, only worldly false worship of dead unregenerate charlatans and tares pretending to be "Jesus-followers" while dancing their way—with hands raised to the ceiling of course and heads bobbing in their darkened auditorium and contemporary rock blasting in the ears— into hell on the broad path loaded with the lost and false pretenders. Its a full blown rock & roll adulterous and blasphemous institution. that doesn't preach on sin and hell, or anything else so negative, and rather motivational and positive-thinking only, with "grace" and "love," both of which are horribly perverted. The charlatans sermons are loaded with ungodly and unBiblical reference to the world, to pop culture, to almost anything that God hates. We see the truth of each generation going further from the truth. It is no surprise that Chappell has an emerging rocker for a son, who is the product of Chappell's (and Chappell's brother Steve) heretical doctrine and philosophies, positivisim only, contemporary false worship music, repentant-less Lord-less easy-believism false gospel, etc. He’s merely the product of a false salvation system of a repentant-less and Lord-less “gospel” and easy believism that ended with a quick prayer and false security, combined with rebellion against God’s Word and neo-evangelicalism and a love for the world, with horrendous levels of compromise and hypocrisy that he has seen all his life in his father. No true believer continues in the things of the world and the flesh, and attempts to integrate the two (2 Cor. 5:17; Ti. 2:11-14), which is spiritual adultery, committed by enemies of God (Jam 4:4), and that is what this guy does. But that is a-ok with pops, El Chappell, for he does not condemn anyone for their life styles, music styles, or probably anything else.

Matt Chappell is a complete heretic and his own father who ordained him into his heretical ministry (2016) fully supports his apostate church, tweeting the following praise after Matt's new heretical "church" plant work started in 2017: “Thankful to hear from our son Matt tonight how the Lord is already working as they are planting Rock Hill Baptist Church in Fontana, CA.” Wow, congratulations ravening wolf, see how many sheep-wannabes you can lead into your contemporary pasture and to the slaughter.

The problem with catering your life to your children goes something like this. El Chappell is a heretic and false teacher who has been pounding a false gospel down the throats of thousands of people, including his own family. Because of that, his children are unregenerate false professing counterfeits, who once prayed a prayer and were signed into El Chappell's book of death. They know their father is a hypocrite, everytime they open the Scriptures, which is likely next to never. They, like pops, are pretending to be something they're not. A life of imitation and conformity evolves while living in the flesh continues, either secretly or openly, depending on the environment, while being pressured by pops, Cartel leader El Chappell, to get into some Christian ministry, as long as it carries the name "Christian" on it, because not to do so would bring shame on El Chappells fame and glory, even humiliation, and possibly bring into question his pastoral office. But the natural man with his fake spirituality does not want that pretend-traditional stuff, he just wants to be real and be like the world and "worship" in such manner, while superficially appeasing his father. That is what is occuring with Matt, and pops has to either get on board that train, even if he's just hanging on to the external handle bars of the caboose, or lose his son. And this we have seen time and time again, pastors choosing their sons over the truth and obedience to Scripture, thus essentially choosing their children over God. Sadly pastor David Harness of Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood Park, Alberta, is such a man. He choose his lost, unregenerate son who was being guided and groomed into the pastoralship of the church, over the truth, and thus lost nearly half of that church.

Steve Chappell. Not only his son, but also Paul’s brother Steve as well. He pastors Coastline Baptist Church, a full-blown contemporary neo-evangelical, emergent church, with all the standard modern heresies and works of darkness, golden calf worship and worldliness, all of which forbidden by God. Coastline has even hosted the "evil beast" (Ti 1:12) and scandalous wolf in sheep's clothing (Matt 7:15) from Australia, Robert Bakss (in 2017), a rock & roll "pastor," neo-evangelical and emergent churcher while pretending to be a Christian" and an IFB, who has even claimed that any stance against CCM music is of the devil. Wow, how horribly deluded, deceived and demented can these wicked wolves get today? (We cover more of this ravening wolf under point no. 5). Yet Chappell, himself has preached in Bakss's church and closely associated with him, using his writings on 127 Ministtry. None of this hinders good ole El Chappell, compromiser extraordinaire, to the point of even preaching in his brothers church. Paul is a partaker of all these evil deeds, intimately associated with both Steve and Coastline, and his son Matt even spent a few years there prior to starting Rockhill as a youth "pastor," so no surprise that he went in the direction he did, the avenue the dog and pig (2 Pet 2:22) and scoffer (2 Pet 3:3), looking for wolves to follow so he could follow after his own lusts.

El Chappell is directly abiding in minsitries that are leading masses into the eternal and unquenchable fires of hell. Heresy seems to run in the family, unsurprising, but Paul does a better job with the external appearance and the whole fundamental act (i.e. Matt. 7:21-22), but what is really occuring is integrating Biblical Christianity with the world and with heresies in high places, which is spiritual adultery and always the mark of an ungodly, false pretending enemy of God (Jam 4:4). The Biblical command is found in such places as Eph 5:11, but Chappell rejects God's Word for his own ways, lusts and opinions:

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them”

Chappel is in aggreement with his heretical, ungodly and very unregenerate son and brother, and that speaks abslute volumes.

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?“ (Am 3:3)

More, many more. The above are just the tip. Many more churches could be added to this list, either direct plants or spin offs from El Chappell's LBC and WCBC students, and all are contemporary, fundigelicals, heretical churches gone the way of the world and the way of false teachers and their fables (2 Tim 4:3-4).

5. El Chappell’s Ecumenicalism and Recommendation of Heretics and Apostates, Exposes him as a Heretic and False Teacher.

This is where his cartel leadership really comes out, "cartel" meaning, according to an online dictionary, a "coalition or cooperative arrangement between political parties intended to promote a mutual interest." That sounds about right. The compromise and unscriptural association is for the purpose of mutual interest and coalition.

Many of the heretical associations are very much on purpose. Besides some already mentioned, there are a number of deeply compromised men and even heretics who clearly preach a false gospel or embrace heresies that write for 127 Ministry, preach at Spiritual Leadership conferences, and associate with the Striving Together orbit. Many of these are of the revivalist brand of the IFB. He is ecumenical with fundigelicals/neo-evangelical/emergent church heretics (e.g. Cary Schmidt, Clayton Reed, Rick Warren, his own son Matt Chappell whom he also ordained), Pentecostal Apostolic heretics (NBA player Matt Redman), recommends many compromisers and heretics such as the business guru and celebrity "conservative" heretic John Maxwell, Donald Witney, Lance Witt who is an associate of Rick Warren and promoter of emergent church, new age and contemplative ungodly heresies. But thats no issues to the Cartel leader El Chappell. The extremely frequent positive proclamation of heretics and apostates in his Daily In The Word devotionals such as C.S. Lewis and Augustine, etc, so often in fact you couldn't number the times. If someone rejects critical doctrines of the faith, they are unsaved – what are these people doing quoting them without any disclaimer?

C.S. Lewis. Why does the heretic Chappell love the pagan Lewis, who was loaded with heresies, even after he has been exposed repeatedly? How bad was Lewis really? He called the Bible's creation account a "Hebrew folk tale," embraced evolution, denied the total and natural sinfulness of man, a pagan Platonist which is the philosophy of Plato and followers, horribly heretical concerning the gospel claiming followers of pagan religions could be saved without personal repentant faith in Christ, religious inclusivity, denied penal substitutionary atonement, believed in an ancient heresy called Ransom Theory of Atonement, denied eternal security of salvation (of course! all dead religious people do), denied the sole Mediatorship of Christ, believed in baptismal regeneration and taught that the “Christ-life” is spread to men through baptism and belief and the eucharist, ejected Bible inspiration and inerrancy, absolutely hated parts of the Bible (peaking of the Psalms, Lewis characterized some of them as “fatal confusion,” “devilish,” “diabolical,” “contemptible,” “petty” and “vulgar”), did not believe that the earliest portions of Genesis were literal historical narrative but mythical, taught the possibility of a second chance after death including purgatory, rejected the biblical doctrine of an eternal fiery hell, claimed it would not be wrong to pray to Apollo because to do so would be to “address Christ sub specie Apollonius,” taught that those who sincerely serve the devil (called Tash) are actually serving Christ (Aslan) and will eventually be accepted by God, denied the virgin birth of Christ, embraces occultism and pagan mythology (many of his books were occultic), was actually a Catholic all his life (believing in purgatory, confessing sins to a priest, believed in prayers for the dead and had the last rites performed by a Catholic priest), his children’s books are full of paganism, multiple gods, and the occult (yes, magic/sorcery is still an abomination in the Word of God – it doesn’t become acceptable because now it is Aslan or some alleged “good” character practicing it). None of this however stops El Chappel or any other heretics in his Cartel from embracing and quoting Lewis, and that speaks volumes to the dead discernment-less, disobedient "faith" of these heretics. Thats a long list of evil, of heresies, and you can read here including the proof: The Apostasy of C.S. Lewis.

Promise Keepers. Though Chappell speaks against specific behaviour of what occurs in Promise Keepers conferences, he never speaks actually against Promise Keepers itself. This is what he stated in Grace for Godly Living:

“If someone is saved in their rally, they encourage him to stay in an apostate church.” (p. 133)

The entire organization of Promise Keepers, and their conferences, is apostate! How in the world would anybody actually get saved in their rally? "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy..." (Jn 10:10). People don't get genuinely saved in apostate organizations, but El Chappel the heretic does not know that, because he himself has never been genuinely born again, though he professes that occured at the age of 13. Promise Keepers is a thoroughly heretical and apostate organization, and the very fact that they encourage people to stay in an apostate church proves they themselves are apostate! But that is either ignored or not known by El Chappell, being void of genuine spiritual discernment and ability to test everything by God's Word (1 Cor 2:14-16; Ac 17:11). Promise Keepers, is described in 2 Pet 2:17:

"These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever."

Rick Warren. Chappell has sent staff to Warrens seminars to learn how to do church better, since Warren is the master of amalgmating the world with Christianity, and then building his "church" with this seeker-sensitive philosophy. Sending church staff to be educated by a wicked heretic and wolf in sheep's clothing, is truly the behaviour of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Evil! And the evilness of Warren knows no limits. Warren is closely and positively affiliated with New Agers and universalists (e.g., Tony Blair, Mehmet Oz, Daniel Amen, Mark Hyman, and Leonard Sweet) and promotes Catholic contemplative mysticism, Chrislam (a yoking of "Christianity" --Warren's version-- and Islam), a promoter of every single heresy known to man, a horrendous perverter of Scripture which he treats worse than play-dough, a wicked lying evil beast and wolf, and that would be an understatement.

El Chappell published a glowing recommendation of a book by Rick Warren’s associate Lance Witt (Chappell’s blog, Nov 28, 2012), who was the executive pastor at Saddleback Church for seven years (at some point after Warren), in spite of there likely not being a more dangerous spiritual place anywhere in evangelicalism. The book review begins,

“If you are in Christian ministry and are looking for a refreshing (yet convicting and challenging) book--and especially if you are a senior pastor--I suggest Replenish: Leading from a Healthy Soul by Lance Witt. When I read this book on my kindle recently, I had eighty-two highlights that filled over eight pages. There were so many truths the Lord used from it to speak to my soul.”

Wow, the spiritual blindess and absence of spiritual discernment in Chappell is unbelievable. His review doesn't contain even a hint of warning about Witt, even though this heretic and wolf in sheep's clothing is cranial deep into every sort of heresy and compromise in neo-evangelicalism, promoter of contemplative mysticism, a recommender of very dangerous wolves such as New Ager Richard Foster and Buddhist-Catholic Thomas Merton in his book "Enjoying in Solitude" (it was via the influence of Foster and Merton that Sue Monk Kidd went from being a Southern Baptist Sunday school teacher to a goddess worshipper). Yet in spite of the truckloads of wickedness of Witt, Chappell in his typical compromised fashion had the audacity to promote the books of this wicked wolf.

Clayton Reed. Chappell actually wrote a book with this guy, who claims to be a fundamentalist but is very clearly a ecumenical. neo-evangelical compromising emergent churcher that loves rock & roll, a heretic in principle and reality. Why would Chappell yoke in ministry with a heretic that loves and uses modern false worship such as “Christian” rock and purveys neo-evangelical philosophies and promotes ungodly emergent church heretics unabashedly (blog articles titled “Ecclesiastical Separation”)? Why would he work together with a severely compromised guy who concurs with John R. Rice in that the IFB should work with those who disagree with them on baptism, tongues, prophecy, election, and association with SBC? In other words, work together with heretics, apostates and ungodly evil workers, none of which are saved, for the purpose of what? Why would he work together with a guy who associates with unBiblical heretics such as Mark Driscoll and Ed Stetzer? Why would he work with a guy that hates the doctrine of separation? In his blog articles that advance all rejection of ecclesiastical separation, Reed concludes, “We ought to join every willing, warm-hearted Christian in advancing our Lord’s kingdom while it is day.” These are the words of a heretic who does not understand biblical truth, does not have the Holy Spirit so he is unable to exercise spiritual discernment.

Very clearly El Chappell is in agreement with this heretic that masqurades as a "Christian," to the point of even writing a book with him, putting his name right alongside his, articulating 'we are united in faith,' 'we agree with each other,' to which the Bible concurs, you are in full agreement with those that you walk/work together (Am 3:3). That means El Chappell is a heretic just like Reed, and this cetainly isn't something out of the ordinary for ole El Chappell.

Cary Schmidt. Cary Schmidt the Fundamental Heretic is also the product of El Chappell, the longtime leader at West Coast Baptist Cartel. The good cartel leader shaped, molded and sent out this blatant neo-evangelical and emerging church heretic after 22 years of influence, with his blessing. Cary Schmidt originally came from indoctrination of Hyles-Anderson College in the Hyles days, which speaks volumes to the heresy that he has been brainwashed with and purveys. After this, Schmidt went to LBC/WCBC where he spent the next 22 years being indoctrinated by El Chappell in how to pretend to be a fundamental Christian why neo-evangelical at heart and striving after worldly success, and from there to Newington, Connecticut, where he could put to practice the measures of worldly success in the pastorate of the contemporary emergent Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he spent $85,000 in 2017 renovating the auditorium into a slick contemporary platform, and shortly after hosting a "Christian" rock and roll concert with the worldly, ungodly, and unregenerate Steve Green (an anti-separatist, a rocker, an ecumenist, a bridge builder to the world and the one world church, a worldly enemy of God), whom Schmidt has adored since his youth. The "church" has the whole contemporary dog and pony circus show, low lights, purple lights, darkened auditorium, spotlights for the speaker (fitting, since they have never left the spotlight of the worlds pig culture and pursuit of worldly success and glory). This is all unsurprising, since Schmidt has been a rock enthusiast since his teen years, and thus throughout all his years at LBC/WCBC where he was on staff. The pig and dog have never left him (2 Pet 2:22), and now that he is own little master, he's living out his fantasies. In 2023, Schmidt joined Bryan Samms at the Church Advanced conference (Samms is at the forefront of the movement to transition churches away from the King James Bible). In 2024, his church hosted Keith and Kristyn Getty and others for a “Healthy Church Weekend” (the Gettys are doctrinally unsound, worldly, and ecumenical rock & rollers who associate closely with Roman Catholic musicians, such as Matt Maher). Schmidt is also the author of the booklet "Done" (a project of gospel corruption, addressed briefly under the first point concerning Chappell's false gospel).

Cary Schmidt is a heretic, a wolf in sheep's clothing, a smooth snake-oil salesman, and an abomination to God. But none of that would stop Chappell from embracing this heretic; after all he built him and discipled him, and made him who he is today. It does speak volumes to how heretical El Chappell really is and how void he is of any true spiritual discernment, and how his lack of love for Christ is revealed by his disobedience to God's Word:

"Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me." (Jn 14:23-24)

Robert Bakss. See mention of Bakss under the first point.

Jerry Falwell. Chappell was closely yoked with the late Jerry Falwell, the terribly compromised heretic that started Liberty University and slid down the slippery path of ecuemnicalism and apostasy, who helped pave the way for the creation of the end-time, one-world harlot “church.” The wolf in sheep's clothing heaped praise on the Catholic Pope John Paul II, the heretic Billy Graham, and a truck load of anyone and everyone from the world of heretics and apostates. Here is what Chappell had to say about this pig and dog who revealed his love for mire and vomit during this life:

"I miss Jerry Falwell. Whether you agreed with all his actions or not, he had a national voice and was willing to speak as the prophets of old for righteousness’ sake. Men today with similar resources and national voices often appear more concerned with self-preservation and avoiding offence than proclaiming the Bible truth." (P.XI-XII)

Michael Redd. Michael Redd is a professing Christian and NBA player, whom Chappell brought to LBC to speak to the youth there at a rally (“A Great Weekend of Ministry,” Oct. 11, 2010, PaulChappell.com). Redd however is NO true born again Christian, but a worldly, ungodly heretic and apostate. He is a rock & roll Pentecostal, which alone proves the point. That Chappell would associate with such wolves in sheep's clothing, and then to make matters worse, expose the young, vulnerable and highly influential youth to wolves, purposefully and intentionally, is evil beyond words, and again proves our point that Chappell is a ravening false teacher. True under-shepherds of God do not open their pasture to wolves (Matt 7:15-20) or Satanic strangers (cf. Jn 10:1-5). God of course forbids this type of compromise and heresy, because it is a compromise and rejection of truth and sound doctrine (e.g., a rejectsion of God's command of separation -- e.g., 2 Cor 6:14-18; Eph 5:5-11; 1 Jn 4:1-6; 2 Jn 1:9-11; 1 Tim 4:1; 6:3-5; etc), and results in serious spiritual confusion and destruction. Redd helped purchase a building for the heretical Philadelphia Deliverance Church of Christ in Columbus, OH (a rock & roll Pentecostal congregation loaded with doctrinal errors and heresies, including those that relate to Pentecostal apostolic denominations), pastored by his father and preached also by his mother. In an interview he stated that he did so not merely out of family affection but out of personal conviction that what that church is doing is right and important (“NBA Star Says Some Players ‘Church-Hurt,’” The Washington Post, April 4, 2008).

Many other false teachers and heretics, as noted in his list of recommended books. By his own admission, El Chappell has been drinking from the poisoned wells of many big-boy big-camp neo-evangelical heretics and other false teachers and wolves in sheep's clothing, such as Chuck Swindoll, John Maxwell, Max Lucado, Randy Alcorn, John Piper, Warren Wiersbe, Charles Finney, David Jeremiah, LaHaye (psychoheretic), Paul Tripp, NT Wright, Ed Stetzer, even Peter Drucker (two books!), one of the ungodly and blasphemous fathers of the emergent church. These are authors on Chappell’s own list of recommended books; not books he reads to critique, but books he reads for profit; not books he reads only in private, but books he recommends publicly on his Ministry 127 blog to influence church leaders. Off of that list he recommends a little of everybody, a well rounded recommendation of heretics. All these men are heretics of varying degrees, and some horribly heretical, wolves in sheep's clothing, all are lusters after filthy lucre. At least he is honest in this regard and even brave (he has his big boy shorts on, because majority of the popular heretics among the IFB have their big boy shorts on as well), but I doubt that he is totally honest. It would be scary to know all the garbage he reads, and associations he has. Evil is an understatment in describing this behaviour, recommending church leaders to read and be influenced by the false doctrines, heresies, worldliness, ungodliness, new age apostasy, contemplative mysticism, etc, of heretics and wolves in sheep's clothing.

But Chappell does provide some great "wisdom" for those reading his recommended list. there are some books in this list that require you to exercise spiritual discernment as you “eat the meat and spit out the bones.(an unbiblical concept). There is dangerous error and Gods Word demands a testing mindset, and the indwelling Holy Spirit—discernment (Ac 17:11; 1 Th 5:21; Eph 5:11). Ignorance is not a bliss and disobedience is not showing love to God.

Chappell's proclamation of some truth can create in one's mind a delusion. In God’s standard of judgment, good does not outweigh the bad nor do we eat the meat and spit out the bones (an unBiblical phrase, also used and liked by Chappell). Someone that wilfully teaches false doctrine, is to be marked and avoided regardless of his apparent good teachings and stances (Rom 16:17-18).

John Maxwell. is another author listed, whose books also promoted by Ministry 127 writers (e.g., Joshua Teis). Maxwell is loaded with heresies. He recommends "The Message" (NAVPress web site), Promotes Catholic missions as a genuine form of Christianity in "Failing Forward," and way to many more to list here, but you can read of here, concerning this heretical and ungodly leadership guru: Beware of Leadership Guru and Celebrity "Conservative," John Maxwell.

Eugene Peterson. Another name on Chappell’s list of recommended books is the late Eugene Peterson, one of the most wicked, heretical and dangerous "evangelical" men and author of this generation. Unbelievably (or maybe not) the Peterson book Chappell lists promotes contemplative prayer, which is of the most dangerous heresy conceivable, not only wickedly unBiblical but an introduction to demonic spirits. Peterson, author of the evil, heretical and blasphemous The Message perversion of Scripture, is a bridge to everywhere: Romanism, Orthodoxy, the one world church, even female gods (he was a strong recommender of The Shack), universalism, and goddess theology. That is where the author Sue Monk Kidd ended up after beginning to dabble in contemplative prayer when she was a Southern Baptist Sunday School teacher. Shame on any man who recommends that God’s people eat from the unfruitful works of darkness.

Chuck Swindoll. In the book, "Grace for Godly Living" on page 13, Chappell speaks of "false doctrines about grace" which de-emphasize godly living. In this context Chappell writes, "There are no new tricks in the devil's bag. This problem of misusing and misunderstanding grace goes right back to the first century." A little later, on p. 15 he says, "Many Christians want to understand freedom as their license to live the way they want to live." But its what he says in the very next paragraph that is horrendously unbiblical and dangerous and literally exposes him as a false teacher immediately:

“There are many who espouse this new wave of grace today. The most visible and notorious proponent of the new grace teaching is a popular Christian author and speaker. He is my brother in Christ. He is your brother in Christ. He is probably one of the most encouraging kind of speakers you can listen to. I have recommended his book on marriage to many young couples. He has written many uplifting books. But this encouraging writer has also, in recent days, taken to task those of us who believe in the teaching of Romans chapter six concerning the sanctification of the believer. Though I believe he is a good Christian, he is not a fundamental, Bible-believing Baptist."

Who is Paul Chappell speaking of? Chuck Swindoll? Very likely. Maybe James Dobson. Swindoll fits this well "the most visible and notorious proponent of the new grace teaching," and if he didn't coin the word himself (which he may have), he has certainly popularized the term "grace-killer." Chappell calls the man, whose identity he keeps hidden, a "brother in Christ" and "a good Christian," yet he admits that he is "the most visible and notorious proponent of the new grace teaching." Wow. In other words, to put it in El Chappell's words, this man is the "most visible and notorious proponent" of "false doctrines about grace" which are "tricks in the devil's bag," yet he is called a "brother in Christ. He is your brother in Christ. He is probably one of the most encouraging kind of speakers you can listen to. I have recommended his book on marriage to many young couples. He has written many uplifting books . . . I believe he is a good Christian" This man is teaching false doctrines about grace that come from the devil himself, and yet "He is my brother in Christ. He is your brother in Christ," and "he is a good Christian." Wow, what a confusing and heretical two-faced pragamtic false teacher and enemy of God. What horrible hypocrisy! This is a lie and the exact opposite of 2 Jn 1:9 which declares,

"Whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God."

El Chappell "hath not God." Period. Double period. Moreover, 2 Jn 1:10-11 commands,

"If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: for he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds."

Thus if Chappell, and those who follow him, were to come to our house, or God's house, we should have nothing to do with him, because he doesn't bring Christ' doctrine (2 Jn 1:9-11). Why does Chappell keep this "new grace" teacher's identity hidden? Because Chappell walks in darkness (1 Jn 1:5-6). If he walked in the light, he would have exposed this man (Eph 5:11-13). So, Chappell adds to the word, teaches the exact opposite of the Word, and denies many Scripture including 2 Pet 2:17 and 2 Jn 1:9.

El Chappell and the West Coast Cartel hate the doctrine of separation. The cartel and its leader give lip service to it. At very best, we could call it soft separatism, which is really no separation at all, only confusion, contradiction and hypocrisy. They are incredibly inconsistent in their separation. The line they draw, like their comrades in neo-evangelicalism, is based upon personal opinion, not the clear commands of God's Word. They have exchanged the truth for coalition, fellowship and "friendship."

Ecumenicalism disables biblical unity and destroys biblical separation, but that is typically not an issue for ecumenists, for it is intentional ecumenism and rejection of separation, even though the Bible commands true unity and separation everywhere (e.g., Rom 16:17-18; Eph 5:11; 1 Tim 6:3-5; 2 Jn 1:9-11; 2 Th 3:6; 2 Cor 6:14-18). This, of course, is related to the truth, the destruction of other beliefs as mentioned, including the gospel. The doctrines of unity (cf. Rom 15:6; 1 Cor 1:10; Ac 2:42, 45; 4:32-33; Eph 4:1-16; Phil 1:27; 2:1-4; 3:15-19; 4:1-2) and separation of the Bible can never be practiced consistently by compromisers and heretics. They sacrifice the truth, the belief and practice of the Bible, for this idea and practice. They go for unity between all professing believers, never get it, but in the attempt at it, they give up the truth and actual unity. Nothing is gained and all is lost. What they end up with is fake unity and false unity that they call "unity." Further reading can be done here: True Biblical Unity, What the Bible Requires, vs Fake Unity, the Most Common Today.

This error also leads to the popular but exceedingly false and unscriptural teaching of ‘in essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty,’ which justifies doctrinal and practical error and rejection of separation for the sake of keeping together coalitions, which we expose here: The False Practice of Ranking Doctrine into “Essentials” and “Non-Essentials” is Phariseeism.

Of course all this ungodly ecumenicalism, association with heretics, is entirely unscriptural: 1 Tim. 6:3-5; 2 Tim. 3:5; 4:3-4; 2 Jn. 1:9-11; 2 Th. 3:6, but ecumenicalists flat out reject the doctrine of separation. That makes Chappell also a hypocrite, since he gives some lip-service to it.

Amos asks the rhetorical question:

"Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" (Am 3:3).

Much more could be written here, but we'll leave it at that.

6. El Chappell Preaches a Lot of Other False Doctrine, Corrupts Scripture and Adds to the Word of God, which Exposes Him as a Heretic and False Teacher.

Here are a few among endless examples.

>> Preaches and holds to false sanctification, Keswick-style heresy which runs rank among IFB churches. He is in fact heavily influenced by Keswick heresy and all its currencies of "carnal Christian" and "backsliding Christian" and "lukewarm Christian" and "unbelief Christian" (exposed here: Keswick Currency of “Unbelief,”“Lukewarm,” “Backsliding,” and “Carnal,” Describe False Professing “Christians,” Not True Born Again Believers), with the chameleon even preaching at the Holiness Conference in Menominee Falls, WI, at the very compromised and heretical Falls Baptist Church and Baptist College of Ministry which are the most prominent leaders in the Higher-Life/Deeper-Life/Keswick “theology” today among the IFB’s, while purveying a false gospel and plenty of other false doctrine. Chappell mananged to confom himself into that group as well, a master of deception.

>> Embraces the heresy of "essentials" and "non-essentials. The complete statement, "In Essentials, unity, In non-essentials, liberty, In all things, love" comes from heretic Augustine (354-430 AD) over 1,500 years ago, the apostate father of Calvinism and Roman Catholicism. The statement itself is completely unBiblical and heretical and has zero bearing on Biblical truth.

>> Adds to the Word of God (Pr 30:5-6; Rev 22:18-19), concerning the modern heresy of "backsliding" and psychoheresy. In one of his books, he writes,

“In Genesis chapter 12 the Bible says that Abraham went into Egypt and backslid. God was not pleased. Why? Because of the sensitive nature of God. God wanted all of Abraham. God wanted Abraham to keep on following Him. God did not want Abraham to go into Egypt, which is a type of sin and the world.” (Paul Chappell, Grace for Godly Living, 1997, p. 145)

This is full of lies. First of all, it was Abram not Abraham. God had not yet given him his new name, because Abram had not yet been born again. Chappell completely misses this easy to see truth in Scripture because the fine details of Scripture don't matter. to El Chappell. Secondly, it was after his salvation that God changed his name, which took place in Gen 15:1-6 (and retold in Rom 4:1-5, 16-25; Gal 3:6-9), yet somehow completely missed by these "great men of God." So he was unsaved at this point. Thirdly, nowhere does it say that in Gen 12 Abraham (Abram) was backsliding, or God being displeased with him, or God not wanting Abraham to go into Egypt. The text says nothing about God not wanting him to go to Egypt or God being displeased with him, or Abraham "backsliding," a word that Chappell, like most of the IFB world and evangelical world, corrupts (Saved People Don't Backslide - They Are Not Apostates). So even in the sense of the unsaved apostatizing, i.e. backsliding, he was still incorrect. Abraham was not saved in Gen 12. If Chappell believed Abraham was unsaved at that point and that backsliding was what lost people only did, then he would almost be correct. But he doesn’t believe either even though that is what the Bible teaches (Abraham wasn’t saved until Gen. 15:1-6; cf. Rom. 4:1-5, 20-25). Chappell adds all of this, which is essentially keswick/higher life/deeper life heresy and necessary to support his false gospel and sanctification. He is adding to the Word of God (cf. Pr. 30:5-6). Yet, Chappell adds all of this to what Scripture is saying. This is a classic example of adding to the Word of God. Pr 30:5-6 warns,

"Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."

Chappell is found a liar on this account, and seems to have no issue with lying about God or His Word. His teachings are "after the commandments and doctrines of men" (Matt 15:3; Col 2:22), not God.

>> In Enter His Presence (1996), on p. 117 Chappell writes,

“The Bible says in Proverbs 28:14, ". . . but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief." This verse teaches that hardening the heart is a conscious decision. Only God can soften your heart through His Word and through the prayers of others, but only you can harden your heart.” (italics in original). And on p. 118 he writes (with emphasis, i.e., in bold set apart print), "Only you can harden your heart and only God can soften it."

This is a lie! It goes directly against Rom. 9:18 which says, “Therefore [God] hath mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.” (see also Ex. 7:13; 9:12; 10:1, 20, 27; 11:10; & 14:8 were God hardened Pharaoh¹s heart). Our sovereign God hardens the heart of anybody He so chooses (Ps. 115:3). It is a lie to say that "only you can harden your heart." The fearful truth is, so can God! He does it in response to man hardening his own heart, but it’s not true that “only you can harden your heart.” Because Israel was lost and refused to repent, God hardened their hearts. Is. 63:17 records, “O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear?” So God hardens hearts, and it is a lie and contrary to the Word of God to say "only you can harden your heart."

7. El Chappell Embraces False Worship and Worldly Music, which Exposes Him as a Heretic and False Teacher.

El Chappell's adaption of CCM music (such as Hillsong, Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, even hosting a CCM concert in their church with Steve Green!), and his worldliness which is more reflective of a lost person since no true born again believer continues in the things of the world and the flesh, and attempts to integrate the two (e.g. 2 Cor. 5:17; Ti. 2:11-14).

El Chappell uses most CCM at LBC “selectively” and in doing so building a bridge to a world that is very dangerous and harmful to the faith once delivered to the saints and many of El Chappell’s music people, church members, and graduates have long ago crossed it. The worldly music that many of these listen to now already, knows no boundaries, as one sees with Robert Bakss (who was heavily supported by Chappell, including preaching in Bakss's church multiple times), including hip hop, rock and roll and heavy metal. They love worldly ungodly music including CCM music at LBC (Eph 4:7-12; 2 Cor 11:4; Jam 4:4). It dominates their personal lives (with full rock bands, actual CCM perfomers), and it dominates their "worship" services, noted in their youtube page.

Adapting CCM in "worship" at LBC is status quo (many, many songs). For instance, some examples of contemporary music that LBC or West Coast College have used:

  • “Hallelujah to the Lamb” by Don Moen (who thinks God is the author of the weird charismatic “laughing revival”)

  • “In Christ Alone” by Getty/Townend

  • “Word of God Speak” by MercyMe (a charismatic mystical song)

  • “Stronger” and “Shout to the Lord” by Zschech/Hillsong (performed by Lancaster’s high school mixed ensemble; Hillsong performed for Catholic Youth Day and Pope Benedict)

  • “Majesty, Worship His Majesty” by Jack Hayford (a Pentecostal Kingdom Now anthem; Hayford says God told him not to preach against the Roman Catholic church)

  • “Great Is the Lord” and “How Majestic Is Your Name” by Michael W. Smith (who has been “slain in the Spirit” and “laughed uncontrollably, “rolling on the floor ... hyperventilating”)

  • “Faithful Men” by Twila Paris (who works with the Roman Catholic Kathy Troccoli and with ecumenist Robert Webber, who promotes unity between evangelicals and Catholics)

  • “In Christ Alone” by Michael English (who spent the 1990s and early 2000s committing adultery with another man’s wife, bar hopping, dating a stripper, and undergoing “rehab” for drug addiction)

  • Songs by Steven Curtis Chapman (the most honored “high energy Christian rocker” of the 1990s who says he doesn’t preach “fire and brimstone” and describes God as “Lord of the Dance”)

  • Songs by Geron Davis (“Jesus Only” Pentecostal who denies the Trinity)

  • “I Will Rise” by Chris Tomlin (a member of an emerging church that seeks to build the kingdom in this present world)

  • Songs by Graham Kendrick (charismatic founder of the radically ecumenical Jesus March that includes Catholics and Mormons)

  • “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” by Chris Tomlin

  • “Not Guilty” by the jazz CCM artist Mandisa

  • “Above All Things” by Rebecca St. James (covered on West Coast Baptist College’s “For the Faith of the Gospel” CD)

  • "Word of God Speak" by MercyMe (MercyMe is a hard-rocking contemporary CCM band that is extremely heretical, worldly, ecumenical and charismatic. It has included Roman Catholic Matt Maher on its Rock & Worship Roadshow).

  • “Glorify You Alone” by Gateway Worship

  • “Step by Step” by Rich Mullins (Mullins was in the process of converting to Rome when he died)

  • "Stronger" and "Mighty to Save" by Darlene Zschech/Hillsong was performed by Lancaster high school's mixed ensemble in 2011, and Hillsong's was performed in February 2012. Zschech/Hillsong are ungodly, worldly, extremely heretical charismatic/pentecostal one-world antichrist church building wolves in sheep's clothing that ecumenically assoicate with anything and everything, including Catholicism (performed for Catholic Youth Day and Pope Benedict.

>> Chappell's unscriptural and ungodly position and philosophy on music reveals how compromised on the world he really is, and how pragmatic his ungodly and unBiblical ministry is, both philosophically and practically.

This is noted in his book "The Road Ahead: Ten Steps to Authentic Ministry for Independent Baptists":

“If my brother has a slight variance in his music standard . . . it doesn’t matter! I don’t have to embrace his personal convictions--to the right or left--as my own. But neither do I need to castigate him to keep my standing before God” (Paul Chappell, The Road Ahead)

This is 100% contrary to God's Word. There is one standard in Scripture, and only one. Two opposing positions are not both right. God's Word demands and commands contending for the faith, exposing and reproving error and the unfruitful works of darkness, in reproving and rebuking and admonishing and correcting fellow professing believers, and the unsaved. These are not optional, and those that claim Christ but refuse to do this, do not actually belong to Christ; they are not His servants, but servants of their belly (Rom 16:18), enemies of the cross of Christ (Phil 3:18-19), corrupters of the doctrine of Christ (2 Jn 1:9-11) and the doctrine of godliness (1 Tim 6:3-5) and enemies of God (Jam 4:4). In describing the music between two conferences in the same book, the second conference music was described as "the polar opposite of the first conference," but as far as standing for and proclaiming the truth, and reproving and condemning the worldly and unBiblical style of music, he had this to say:

"Was one style of music right and the other wrong? I’ll leave that as a matter between those two pastors and the Holy Spirit. For my part, I was blessed and enriched by the worship and fellowship in both meetings. I don’t believe the music at either place--all of which was rendered with hearts dedicated to God--was black and white. I think it was all vibrant shades of color expressing Christians’ pure hearts of worship to the Lord. More concerning to me than variance in styles of godly music is when good, fundamental, revival-longing people have a spirit of condemnation for one another." (ibid)

Wow! What an absolute heretic and false teacher, period. Unbelievable. Spineless, charlatan, wolf in sheep's clothing that attempts to claim that there is such a thing as “ungodly” music, and that to him the most important thing isn't the truth, or obedience to God's Word (the only means whereby we show love to God! e.g., Jn 14:21-24; 1 Jn 2:3-5; 2 Jn 1:5-6; etc), but rather that we tolerate other peoples sins, errors, worldliness, and God forbid that one would exhibit condemnatory behaviour toward them (this would fit into point no. 8 as well, unsurprising, since its at the tables of neo-evangelical wolves that he eats). The most important thing is the heart and sincerity of the worshippers and a wide variety of acceptable music styles El Chappell lies and the worst thing, condemning others for their music styles. Yikes. What a heretic! We see that Chappell is no different than any other ungodly and unBiblical neo-evangelical. No, he is exactly the same except for the so-called fundamentalism.

No wonder so many "fundamental" churches today have gone worldly and apostate. These wicked positions and philosophies of his, coupled with the false "believers" that his false gospel produces, is a receipe for disaster.

The worship of God must be in Spirit and in truth (Jn 4:23-24). This is accomplished through the singing of psalms, melodies and spiritual songs; praying together and responding to the preaching of God’s Word (Ps. 63:5; 150:1-6; Jn. 4:23-24). The singing must be solemn, Biblical, humble, godly, glorifying to God. We must hate this CCM stuff and churches that compromise and apostatize with it (such as West Coast/Lancaster— Paul Chappell). We must hate what they do and the way they do it. We must hate the philosophy of ministry that it represents, and hate the way it misrepresents the God of the Bible, and hate the way it deceives the people with whom it is involved, and hate what it does to churches (which is, destroys them), and hate the way that it harms and even ruins discernment, and hate the way that it perverts a biblical or true understanding of spirituality and love. We must hate the way that it endorses false worship for churches. It's disgusting. It’s the mark of a false and deceptive “believer” (1 Jn. 2:15-17; Jam. 4:4; Jn. 15:18-20; 17:14-16). We mustn't tolerate it even for an hour, and have nothing to do with it.

8. El Chappell is a Neo-Evangelical at Heart, which Exposes Him as a Heretic and False Teacher.

He he enamoured with the ungodly, unBiblical and heretical non-judgmental philosophy:

“Students will not . . . be taught to have a judgmental spirit of other ministries with slight variations in music style from that which is taught at West Coast Baptist College. They will be taught that a critical and judgmental spirit is as grievous to the Lord as perhaps an unintentional variation in music style by a like-minded fundamental church.”

Paul Chappell has clearly made inroads into the new evangelical movement, forsaking the truth, and the very dangerous non-judgmental philosophy:

Music however is only one aspect of their serious compromise. There many other things including their dangerous and heretical associations, ecumenicalism, hypocrisy, unscriptural church growth philosophy, evil pragmatism, new evangelicalism (essentials and non-essentials, judge not) and pragmatism (one example among many that could be given specifically on Chappell: http://www.wayoflife.org/database/paul_chappells_pragmatism_and_dangerous_associations.html).

Conclusion

Reasons we know Paul El Chappell is a false teacher (and thus a false believer), and to separate from him and expose him:

  1. False gospel/salvation (cf. Gal. 1:6-9; 2:4-5). Chappel, LBC and the West Coast Cartel preach a false gospel that excludes Lordship and true repentance, and replace the true gospel with one that specializes in easy believism and quick prayerism.

  2. False sanctification (cf.

  3. Embracer and promoter xof CCM false worship music (cf. Eph. 4:7-11; 2 Cor. 11:4; Jam. 4:4).

  4. Ecumenist and Recommendation of Heretics and Apostates (cf. 1 Tim. 6:3-5; 2 Tim. 3:5; 4:3-4; 2 Jn. 1:9-11; 2 Th. 3:6).

  5. Hatred of Criticisim, Reproof, Admonishment (2 Tim 3:16-17)

  6. Pragmatist and Manipulator (aka. man-centred man-appeasers) (cf. Jam 2:1-10)

  7. Corrupter of the Word of God (cf. Pr. 30:5-6; Rev. 22:18; 2 Cor. 2:17).

  8. Worldly and False Worship (cf. Jn. 15:18-20; 17:14, 16; 1 Jn. 2:15-17; Jam. 4:4).

  9. Hypocrite (Matt 23).

  10. Wrester of Scripture which is an "error of the wicked" (2 Pet 3:16-17).

  11. False teacher (cf. Rom. 16:17-18; Phil. 3:18-19).

I do believe these things more than exceed God's command to separate from the false teacher in Rom 16:17; 2 Tim 3:8-9. If we do not, our children will turn into the Matt Chappell's. Separation from compromisers at all costs is God's standard, and without we are doomed to compromise ourselves (1 Cor. 13:5?). God's Word couldn't be clearer: "Can two walk together except they be agreed?" (An. 3:3).

El Chappell is a dangerous fake. It is unsurprising that nearly everyone around him goes worldly and contemporary, especially those close to him (his children, ministers, etc) and especially many of his direct or student church plants. It can't be a coincedence. It's not. It is predictable when we consider the pragmatic, compromised and heretical perversion of Scripture and twisting of Scriptural truth to fit presuppositions and agendas. What is further unsurprising is El Chappell's background. He comes from a very immoral family. You need to look no further than his father who has had multiple adulterous affairs while he pastored churches in California, which means he was a wicked false deceptive "believer" (cf. 1 Cor 6:9-11; Gal 5:19-21) and false teacher (2 Pet 2:1-22 --"eyes full of adultery" v. 14), who has "forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;" (v. 15). This was El Chappell's example. The wolf learned his ways from his own father, a wolf in sheep clothing. Then there is his brother Mark who had a sexual relationship with a teenager girl while he was a youth pastor in Connecticut (which is considered rape by law enforcement, but his church swept it under the rug). Nothing happened to Mark but the girl was forced to apologize ("repent") to the congregation after she attempted suicide. And now he is an IFB approved senior pastor in Phoenix, AZ. Makes you wonder what scandal is raring to jump out of El Chappell's closet. But Paul is just much better at covering up because he learned these "tricks of the trade" from his father and brother. The Chappell name is a detriment to the IFB and a perfect example of what a wolf in sheeps clothing looks like.

Do not be decieved. Chappell's proclamation of some truth can create in one's mind a delusion. In God’s standard of judgment, good does not outweigh the bad nor do we "eat the meat and spit out the bones" (an unBiblical phrase, used and liked by Chappell, particularly in giving his list of recommended books and authors). Someone that wilfully teaches false doctrine and associated with heretics, is to be marked and avoided regardless of some apparent good teachings and stances (Rom 16:17-18).

What is seriously problematic is when preachers/pastors that should know better don’t separate from heretics. Many IFB churches continue to use Chappell's material, even if they loosely "separate" from him. Do you think it’s wise to use Chappell’s material considering he embraces a dangerous and unscriptural position on contemporary worship music, a non-judgmental philosophy, promotes new evangelical and contemplative mystic heretics (he even sends the people of their church to be educated by them), is deceptively worldly, is hypocritical in his teachings and positions, produces corrupt fruit (heretics galore including his own sons and staff), is extremely man-centred and pragmatic, embraces many unscriptural positions, corrupts a load of salvation passages and sanctification, embraces a false gospel of easy believism and quick prayerism while rejecting repentance and Christ's Lordship, claims lost people as saved, etc? He has traded godly music for ungodly worldly music, the true gospel for another gospel, separation for dialogue, and sound doctrine for unsound ear tickling doctrine. His rejection of true Biblical repentance and Christ’s Lordship reflects a damnable heresy (2 Pet 2:1) and his embracement and promotion of unBiblical and ungodly music standards and ecumenicalism by building bridges to heretics and apostates, is destroying multitudes of church’s and sending droves of souls to hell making them two-fold children thereof. All these leavens reflect a very serious spiritual problem, a destruction of the truth, a purveyance of error and sinful pragmatism, and here is warning to all who will associate with such:

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” (Pr 13:20)

There are many reasons to separate oneself from men like El Chappell (Rom. 16:17; Gal. 2:4-5; 1 Tim. 6:3-5). There is absolutely no reason to suspect that he is an actual true believer. None. He shouldn’t be treated as such but as a false teacher. Their false gospel speaks for itself. Separation from heretics at all costs is God's standard (Ti. 3:10-11), and not to do so you are doomed to compromise yourself (1 Cor. 13:5) and "fall from your own stedfastness" (2 Pet 3:17), or even be partakers of their evil deeds (2 Jn. 1:9-11). God's Word couldn't be clearer: "Can two walk together except they be agreed?" (Am. 3:3).

El Chappell and company might claim they know and love Jesus, and that they glorify Him and fulfil a Biblical ministry, but the Bible, the Word of God, tells an entirely different story.

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.“ (Jn 14:23-24)
“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.“ (1 Jn 2:3-5)

By their disobedience they are proving to be liars about knowing Him.

Truly saved people cannot and will not be deceived about this. Mark them and avoid them is God's demand and command, not associate or learn from them:

"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple." (Rom 16:17-18)
